going abroad

hi,

I'm just curious of something, can someone on L plates go abroad? Like take their bike through the euro tunnel then go round France for a bit and maybe even commute to other countries?
I'm not doing it but I thought of it the other day so thought I'd ask the question

Not sure on the legalities but direct fro the AA's website on 'documents to take'...

'valid full (not provisional) driving licence'

...which seems to be a fairly good indicator that you can't.
For the legislation they've lifted that from you'll have to wait for someone else's input.

Provisional license is not accepted abroad.

However full car license is accepted fine.

Hence if you have had your full UK B class car license for more than few years you can ride 125cc fine in France, Italy, Austria, Spain and some other countries. You cannot ride anything more than 50cc in Netherlands or Germany.

Than the French been French has changed the law and now you need to prove that you have been riding 125 more than 5 years or to have special training similar to our CBT in order to ride 125 on your B car license.

The answer is yes if you get the ferry to Santander, have a B class UK full car license for more than 3 years and remove your L plates there

SoLo riding on provisional entitlement is purely a UK conceit.

However, some EU countries give full A1 (125cc) entitlement free with a B (car) pass, as the 3DLD allows them to do. You'd have to check which ones.
