Hi there,

I'm quite new to biking, but I am eager to learn, so would appreciate any help I can get with my situation.

So recently, some vandal decided to damage my YBR overnight, and had removed and destroyed the fuel cap, as well as snap off the fuel hose, as seen on the photos.

I've bought a replacement fuel cap, but as for the fuel line, I got a quote from the garage that the part will cost £100 as well as £46/hr labour.

I've looked on ebay, and have found used fuel hoses for much cheaper:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&LH_BIN=1&_nkw=ybr%20fuel%20hose&rt=nc&LH_PrefLoc=1&_trksid=p2045573.m1684

My question is: Is this something that I should be able to fix my self? I was thinking that all that is needed is to remove the snapped hose connector that is stuck inside of the hose, and replace the connector that is on the engine (sorry, not quite sure what this part is called), then plug the hose back into the new connector. Or simply replace the entire fuel line.

Or is this something that should be done professionally by a mechanic? I usually like fixing things myself and if this is an easy job, would happily give it a go.

Any idea what other issues I may be facing from this damage?

Thanks Smile

Not sure but think you may need to change the whole pipe.

They are easy to change. Maybe there are different types but on my bike you squeeze the two buttons on the side of the hose connector and pull it off. You then push the new one on until it clicks in place.

Sounds to me like someone was trying to nick your fuel and couldn't get the cap off so cut the hose. You need to be careful as they are likely to come back and try it again. They will be pikey little bastards with nothing to lose and don't care about getting caught.

Careful, now.
That's an example of exactly why Papa Lazarou has said goodbye to BCF.

You can replace that fuel hose in moments. Just un-clip the ends and clip on the new one. You don't even need any tools.

Take remnants of the hose to any car spares place, ask them to cut you a foot or two of the stuff. Should cost a tenner absolute max.

thanks for your help everyone.

I've gone ahead and bought a replacement hose which should arrive in the next few days.

Had another look at the bike, and the hose connectors looks simple enough to unplug. The connector to the tank is a bit of a pain to reach but with some dexterity, I should be able to get it off Smile
