Do the voltage test to check its getting power would be first, then fuse, then relay.

Do a voltage check as stated but ....

FUSE! You ever looked at the main fuse box in a Merc A series (I have an A160)?
It is under the drivers footwell floor next to the battery. When I counted there were 65+ fuses. The garage told me there are then 3 subsidiary fuse boxes. Even given the best wiring diagram I can find there is no way I would ever sort that lot out.

Just do not take the car to Merc to sort out unless you have lots of ££. Lots of ordinary garages can do a diagnosis at reasonable cost
