I've got fed up of dozy fuckwit granddads in faux 4x4's (usually Nissan Quashquais) just moving into my lane when I'm next to them on dual carriageways and ignoring the fact I'm there despite holding down the horn (and braking to get out the way)

is it possible to upgrade my ZZR 600's horn without causing running issues or MOT issues quickly and easily?

Just want something that makes them look if they're just being dozy - I'm aware defensive riding is the only thing to protect against people who have seen me and just decided not to give a fuck.

Stebel Nautilus, I've got one all brand new and ready to fix to next bike. £30 odd quid from a Dutch Ebay seller.

I liked my Stebel. It's off the bike but is 2b fitted.

Sounds like this:

In all honesty, I haven't even removed mine from its packaging. I was going to fit it to my ER6 but now that's
due for replacement I'll save it for my next bike. Although being honest even the mini stebel is quite a big unit. Razz
It will certainly be easier to hide on a faired bike. It does have a relay though, and will likely require running direct to
the battery if the horn circuit can't hold the power required to run it.

This pic illustrates the size a bit as there's a hand in it.
The one on the right is the 'compact'.

https://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-horns/stebel-nautilus/nautilus-horns.jpg

You can dismantle the horn to trumpets and compressor and there's a how to fit in conjunction with the original horn
here---> https://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?140346-Stebel-Nautilus-how-to-(with-pictures)
for a pseudo 2 stage horn if you've a practical side. I may attempt something similar if my next bike is short
of mounting points.

Loads of vids on you tube showing fitting solutions but the one splitting the unit is the most ingenious.

Just removed mine this week after few years. Started struggling (moment of air noise before horn sounded) and now dead.

There's a chap uses the M60 at a similar time of day to me (not seem him for a while actually) who always makes me jump as he comes past me

He filters up behind me and follows right behind so I can't see him in my mirrors, when I start moving across for my junction he comes past me (doesn't barge past) and makes me jump from the volume of his exhaust

Prior to him coming alongside me I can not hear him at all so I doubt a driver in a large plush car with the radio / sat nav / phone (hands free of course) would hear a louder exhaust...

Sound is highly directional and exhausts usually point behind you, loud exhausts for any reason other than riders enjoyment is a load of bollocks. It is also the reason horns are always at the front pointing forwards.

Chinese Nautilus copies off eBay £11-12 posted. Very loud and no worse made than the £30 originals.

I've had two of these and both have crapped out on me in a matter of months. They get bad reviews for their reliability although the loudness of them is impressive but they're notoriously bad in terms of reliability.

I must have been unlucky with the two I got. Agree on the loudness, they're great. Just unhappy about two dying on me in the space of a year.
