Yes, you can. Visiting the website of almost all of the major UK banks would tell you that. They'll likely send you a declaration in the post which you need to sign and return.

You're on the internet, asking the internet if you can open a bank account on the internet.

Laughing !

Probably easier to just pick a bank and try it? Thinking

I've found walking into Barclays to complain how HSBC have pissed you off for the last time and you need a bank account that actually works tends to get you an appointment fairly quickly...

Having handed over every piece of ID you own, to a spotty oik in a suit, (wearing a suit somehow makes it more acceptable, apparently), you're eventually rewarded with an account!

Should you then want to open another account, with the same bank, despite the bank having photocopied all your ID and filed it previously, and despite speaking to the same spotty oik who vetted you 2 weeks previously, and despite them sending you enough, personalised, advertising to sink a battleship in the intervening 2 weeks, (so they obviously know who you are, how old you are and where you live), the details you provided 2 weeks earlier are now invalid. Rolling Eyes

Totally, fcukin', pointless!

I opened an account with Santander over the Internet. It was active within 15 minutes and I haven't received anything in the post except statements.
I think promising to use it as your main account helps.

Halifax were the fastest for me.

Account set up instantly online, card and that arrived in the post a few days later. HSBC take ages and want you to sign loads of stuff.

I just wandered into a santander branch and opened one on the same day. Although I would say that HSBC are the best IMO.
