So after many years of listening to XFM London its seems that changes are afoot and in my opinion these changes are not going to be good. I listen to the radio on my commute in both directions (1hour each way) so I catch the breakfast show and the drive time slots. XFM for me had the right balance of Talk/music/travel with the right kind of music for my tastes.

So as of Sunday XFM ceased and is turning in to Radio X which launches next Monday with their new star presenter of Chris Moyles in the breakfast slot. I cant stand him add to that that they have Johnny Vaughan at drive time who I am also not the biggest fan of. In addition to this another niggle is way they are marketing the station as “Radio X – the first truly male-focused, fully national music and entertainment brand for 25-44 year olds” To me this sounds like its the Nuts/Zoo of the radio world and with some of the DJ appointments it seems likely. Radio X is also nation al so local travel news seems unlikely.

So back to the question, what radio station do you listen too and why?

I hope to find a good alternative/rock station with a bit of talk, it would be great if they did travel announcements too but I think I am asking too much Confused .

If all else fails I will go back to my Google all access subscription but I like the radio as mentioned due to talk/news/traffic. Any one know of any apps that can inject that in to my Google streaming Smile

I try to block out the piped garbage at work with my in-ear headphones.
Can't stand listening to music I haven't chosen myself.
The only time I really catch any radio on is on the short drive in when I use the car and then it's not music.

I used to throughly enjoy George Galloway's show and the late night show 1am - 6am on talksport but then they went all serious and made it all sport 24/7.

Now I listen to LBC through the night.

I tried LBC on the way home last night, it was OK but the lack of music was a bit annoying. James O'brian is a pretty quick thinker and has some good debates but I have to be in the right frame of mind for it.

Radio 2 (sorry)

and sometimes

Radio 6
Classic FM
Radio 3

(also cos I am old Laughing )

Should I be listening to Radio 4? What's on there, then?
I used to leave R4 on for Bruno when I was out at work, but got annoyed at keeping on coming home just as he was listening to the Archers.

So I inflicted Radio 2 on him.

Sometimes I listen to random internet radio stations.
Discovered I quite like industrial metal type of music when I am stoned, very "Metropolis", dirgelike, wtf.

But I also found one called Birdsong Radio.
It's awesome.
If you like the dawn chorus... Shifty

I used to listen to Radio 2 and Radio 4 when I was 18-19 as I had a job doing lots of driving 4-5k a month and the Radio 1 playlist seems to consist or the grand total of 4 songs at times. I even got in to the afternoon play at one point Laughing .

I will check out Team Rock sounds a bit more of what I am looking for at commuter time.

Team Rock and if I can't pick that up then Planet rock.
I take a small digital radio to work. In the van/car I rarely listen to radio, instead I have music on memory sticks.

I don't listen to the radio, largely because I don't want to hear anyone else's opinions about music.

Adverts are my pet hate but at least on planet rock and team rock it's for things like bike insurance, and gigs/events
I may actually want to attend. They certainly seem to be tailored ads for my 'tribe' for want of a better word.

Try Absolute Radio? It’s indie and some older stuff, maybe your thing. The presenters can be annoying but definitely not on Moyles levels. For me it’s the best of a very, very bad bunch.
