Pricing car for sale

I'm putting my car up for sale before I go to uni and just wondering the best way to price it. I initially put the car into autotrader and it recommended £1430, I assumed they would undervalue it slightly so have put it up for £1495.

It's only been up for just over 24 hours but had about 50 views but no calls/texts/offer for trade for 6 chickens etc. This is my first time selling a car but all 3 bikes I've sold have had texts and offers coming through within hours of being listed, so I can't help but wonder whether the car market is just a bit slower than bikes or whether the cars not priced right?

Also how do you go about pricing cars? I had a look at others listed and tried to judge it but they range from £700 to £2500 so no help there really

Add 15% 20% to his offer and you are almost at a ballpark price.

The thing to remember is that nothing is worth anything unless someone wants to pay for it. Sad

Stay away from Internet Car Buying Companies. Their stock in trade is ex-fleet and desperate sellers and there are a lot of desperate sellers.

Look at your car on autotrader.
Apples for Apples. similar mileage, trim, colour etc.

Why not tell us what car it is, age, mileage, history, condition etc and let the masses of BCF estimate whether your price is right?

At the end of the day it also depends on how keen you are to get rid of it. You can hang on to it for ages at a higher price and you may eventually get your sale. Or price it cheaper and get it gone out of the way. Just remember that the longer you hold on to it the more it is costing you - insurance, tax etc.

Erm, depends on what car.

Search it on ebay, tick 'sold' or 'completed listings'

Look.

& repeat on current ones on autotrader and you can't go far wrong.

Start at the higher end of the results if you really are unsure and after a week etc move it down. Thumbs Up

Get a valuation from We Buy Any Car then add £1k.

Many dealers use WBAC to get their trade in prices these days as well.
