GSXR600 (1998) running rough at low RPM

So, my first bike and I've had it 3 weeks. It's a 1998 GSXR600 with 34k on the clock. I'm a total newbie with regards to bikes so be gentle with me...

After I got the bike I had a reasonable ride out of about 300 miles. Came home, parked up and the next morning there was petrol dripping from my tank down the left side. Read up and took the tank off and there was fuel leaking from the gasket around the fuel pump. I ordered a new one, fitted it and sorted out the leak, no problems I thought Confused

After a couple of days running around I noticed whilst pulling away it was running very shitty, coughing and farting at low RPM and not starting up first thing like it did previously. As I go up the gears and get out high RPM it seems to run fine, all the problems seem to be at low RPM going slow and pulling off.

I've read up a little and it seems it could be one or more of several problems. I've gone and got some Sea Foam which I'm going to put in today and run it through then see where I stand from there.
It would be nice if any of you more experienced guys out there could give me a few pointers of what to do next or what to look for.

could be as simple as the idle speed is too low.

Check the carb balance.

The pilot jet could also be clogged with older fuel. This is only likely if the bike has been stood for a while.

Another thing to check would be air leaks around the carb rubbers. This would result in rough running as well as revs to drop slowly.

Could it be possible that you have an air-lock somewhere in the fuel system after fitting the pump?

probably disturbed some crap in the tank and you now have dirt flowing about in your float bowls messing with your pilot jet fuel circuits.

Carb's off, thorough proper clean ( with compressed air and removing jets), check float heights, reassemble and finish with a balance if you can.

Along with all of the other suggestions here double check that your rectifier plug hasn't started to melt like they all do, I Had the same symptoms at the start and they progressively got worse until I found it and rewired it.
