Looks like the AA have misplaced my bike. Anyone know how their Unaccompanied Relay service works?

They don't do Unaccompanied Relay. Confused

Was it Ford Transit and did the driver have a thick Irish accent?

Edit: You have contacted HQ I assume.

Hope it turns up. Maybe he's broken down. Shocked

I get AA relay as part of my bank account, bike broke down in the highlands at the weekend and i took the option of having the bike transported to my home address unaccompanied, allowing me to jump on the back of a mates bike to get home.
when i spoke to the recovery guy about what would happen to the bike, he said it would be transferred from agent to agent over the course of 48 hours to my home address. whereas a car could be left in service station car parks that would'nt happen with a bike for obvious reasons, it would either be met or the handover would happen at a garage so the bike was secure. They can't give you an actual definite time of delivery due to it all being dependent on drivers hours etc..

48 hours expired at 8am this morning and still no bike, so phoned the AA and they are saying their records show the transaction was completed yesterday. I have no bike, the house was occupied all day, they are now trying to track the last agent who delivered it to find out whats gone on and where the bike is. in all honesty i expect the bike to be in a local agents garage. although they still have'nt called me back and i was promised a phone call within the hour.

I'm assuming all liability is with them until i assume liability by being in receipt of the bike?

Probably just common or garden incompetence, happy ending will be achieved with enough persistence.

However, I'd want to get as much as possible admitted in writing in case you end up having to invoice them for the bike and your consequent expenses.

Pass the popcorn

Even if phoning, it can be useful to take notes of the phone call. After the phone call completes, send an email to the company detailing your understanding of what happened in the phone call, what was said, and the promises made.

If worst comes to worst you have notes on the conversation, and if the company tries to claim them as being false, you can make the claim that if they were false, why did the company not correct the details at the time of sending?

I have a call recording app on my phone. All calls, in and out. So I use my mobile to make such calls so every detail of the conversation can be referred back to. Has come in very handy several times.

You may have to advised the other party the conversation is recorded for it to hold up in court. I believe it may be an illegal practice not to.

Not in the UK.

There may be an issue with publishing or broadcasting their side of the conversation, although it's hardly the crime of the century. Don't do that.

Record it, make a transcript, have the recording available in the case the other side are daft enough to argue the toss, job done.

All good, they found the bike and its been delivered in the same condition it was collected in, i.e. broken. looks like it was merely an issue with their system being updated prior to the bike actually being dropped off.

phew didn't fancy a long drawn out issue.

Thanks for all the input!

There was a long article about Pay Pal USA, along with a recording, which I found hilarious. The blogger informed the Pay Pal telephone bod that he had recorded the whole call and they went off on one, and then he said "but you said at the beginning... "Calls may be recorded"

I guess they changed their message since then.

I spoke to a Manufacturer's Cuntomer Services Dame (in UK) a little while back.
The Bot that picks up the call plays a recorded message to inform you that 'calls are recorded'.
My cue to also record it.
I let the Cuntomer Service Blade know this and she said, "Well in that case we cannot discuss anything specific." Shocked
I asked her, " Is it okay to be 'specific' so long as you are recording it? I don't think that is legal or fair Pet."
Conversation was unfruitful Smile
