i bought a Gamo .22 air rifle with scope a while back. It's ok, but I find the scope hard to use as in small field of view and difficulty seeing clearly.
Ok, it's probably me but what scope would you shooting people recommend for my gun. 11mm mount.
Laser dot so I can feel like an American sniper and actually hit anything?
Nothing too expensive as its only a bit of fun reducing the local rat population.
The sights I have are 4x32 and came with the gun. Gamo's own.

If you're ratting, it's probably at fairly short range, in poor light. So you'll likely need a scope that will focus down to 10 yards or less and has the biggest front lens you can find, given the focus requirement.
Or make yourself a nightsight for about £35 - it does feel like cheating, though ____________________ Honda Varadero 125cc => Suzuki Bandit 650 33bhp => 77bhp =>

It is the same as telescopes and binoculars.
It depends on your age.
Pupil Dilation affects how the amount of light your eyes can see.
The older you are the less you pupil can dilate.

Hoolyoh and Black spaniel don't know noffing.

If you have bother seeing stuff through a telescope it may be the telescope magnification is no good for your eye's physical abilities.
If you read how lens systems work you may understand what it means.
But if you have potato eyes you will be blind to the facts. ____________________ Disclaimer: The comments above may be predicted text and not necessarily the opinion of MCN. |

This is correct^.......... all my scopes are now 3-9 x 50 to get the extra light.
Also the higher the magnification, the harder it is to eliminate crosshair wobble.
just my

But Hoolio and BlackSpaniel cannot 'see' the light. ____________________ Disclaimer: The comments above may be predicted text and not necessarily the opinion of MCN. |

People have also mentioned the paralax.
If it's set too far away (and many scopes are set up for use with rifles, not air rifles), you will have difficulty focusing on the target and reticule. Almost certainly an issue with any over the counter sight at ratting ranges.
I believe it can be reset.
However, I'd be rocking either traditional open sights or a reflex sight for ratting.
Reflex sights are used with both eyes open for maximum light. They are also very quick to align on target. Intuative. Feels like you're using a laser sight but the red dot is actually being shone back into your eye with a focus correction so it appears to be on the target. Like a head-up-display. It's all very top-gun but great for ratting. Also cheap. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. Sorry, my mistake.
Eye relief adjustment is what I described, you are quite correct. |

Hmmm? ok?
However with telescopic sights, your point of focus will always be the centre of the crosshairs, and parallax will/can/does affect your depth of field/quality of image/crispness of focus.

Just finished a days ratting and bunny potting with the scope I got off recman. Excellent scope, a Hawke Sport HD 3-9x4, and easier for my eyes than the one I had before. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |
