I think Nissan 350 is the best choice. Is far more better than M3.

Just looked at the 370z, £14000 - £22000!
350's are round about £5000, that's the kind of money I can risk writing off.

FFS

This thread, here, in GBC, is presently boiling my piss in much the same way as turning up at Sainsbury's only to find the bike bay filled with trolleys left there by twunt cagers too lazy to walk a few yards to the nearest trolley park.

Is nothing sacred?

On the 370z-side, read reviews; not just from all the well known car mags but also of buyers who have had the previous 350Z - the general consensus is that they're barely faster than the 350Z. 3.7L instead of 3.5, 20ish more BHP, and an extra £8k. And they're really not fun at all, essentially being a 'boring' car.

I can't comment on the ZX as that's a really old version of the car, but I have a 350Z and it's good fun. To get faster than the 5 seconds they say the 0-60 is, in a car that looks nice, you're looking at throwing an extra £5-£10k in the mix just for that 0.1 to 0.2 seconds that you're not going to be getting on every setoff anyway. For that price, of going for a 370z, you might as well just get a 350Z (they're cheap now, got mine at £11k for 50k miles), an old R1 and another more sensible bike and have so much more.

Also, bike chat Very Happy

The E46 M3 also has absolutely no character and nobody gives a shit when one of those drives past, it's not faster at all unless you've done something to it, they're basically the same on the road. Not sure about older years, but mine's 2009 and 307bhp, the E46 just looks like every other BMW.

And also, the 350 is not a BMW, and that's something I'm very proud of. I'll get all the way up to a supercar in the future, and I won't touch an Audi or a BMW with a bargepole.

I genuinely couldn't disagree more. Have you driven one on an open road?

The M3 is a classic, quality bit of kit. One of the best looking timeless cars around IMO! Looking like other BMW's is a good thing!

The only Nissan I'd touch is the GTR. I will own one by the time I'm 28! Thumbs Up

The E46 M3 is the prettiest of all the M3s and was on my recent shortlist, and the shortlist before that too. Last time it was usurped by the the quirkiness and handling of a JCW R53 Mini, this time it was undone by the sheer brute force of a WRX STI hatchback running about 330bhp.

I've no doubt it'll make it onto my next shortlist, assuming I can find a low mileage one by then, as I still really fancy a coupé in Phoenix Yellow.

Hummm'n, The E46 just doesn't really do it for me? Maybe there's too many E46's on the road, and or it's the bulbous styling of them?

The E36 is in cheap fast car territory now, so worth avoiding from the can buy but can't run sector of buyers. But it's better looking than the later E46 by a long way I would say and does the single VANOS six pot have better reliability and less problems than the later 3.2 double VANOS lumps?

The E30 M3 would be the one to really spunk over though, but then a fast Alpina E30 would be even better though!

Or the newer E90, I must admit the V8 with F1 tech does sound cool, the car looks better than the E46 and though I don't know how they are rated or how well they drive, Id take E90 or E30 over a 46 any day of the week.

The E46 is going towards where the E30 was 15years ago, and the E36 is starting climb up towards being sought after like the E30 now is with prices to match.

Couldn't agree more Smile

Had an '06 (300bhp rev up model) 350Z GT myself and damn do I miss it. Big lazy power, handling was tight and predictable. It didn't hide its weight, but used it well.

Loved that thing, tempted to get another.

Bloody annoying thing is you void the warranty as soon as you use the launch control, what's that about!? It fucks the transmission Laughing worth it though.

Not really true.

The earlier GTR's didn't have launch control at all. People were turning off the VDC and journalists were calling it "Launch Control" but Nissan never once called it that. It was designed for getting the car moving on snow etc. It damaged the transmission when nailing it on dry roads.

When they did put launch control in, around 2012. It did NOT validate the warranty to use it.

No it's not. Did you see Jeremy say that once and think it's true? Laughing

Indeed. And besides - so what if it was a Renault? Some of the Renault Sport cars over the past 5 or so years have been excellent.

It's a lovely looking car but the chavvy 2015 civic type r beats it around the nurburgring Sad This actually saddens me greatly.

I'd replace old mans Rover for the chavvy plastic wing/fins covered new CTR. I liked the idea of the old nasp engine better, but unless a manufacturer was willing to go 3.0L+ in a hatchback then Nasp engines are now dead for hot hatch's and pretty much for anything less than extreme supercar's.

What I do/would like about the new CTR best, is not only a high std spec, and it's not a compromise car like a fast VAG or BMW etc, but the fact that being a new Jap performance car, and especially a Honda, and a turbo too, is that in 1year from now the aftermarket will be swimming in upgrades, modifications and performance parts, that make fast Ford tuning look difficult/poorly supported.

If old Rover's like mine were not Honda based, then everything on the car would have to be custom made if you wanted aftermarket or go faster parts.

No idea why the powers that be consider this topic should be placed in the love-lorn section, but I bow to their infinite wisdom....

Anyway. Just bought a 2006 350z, 60,000 on the clock, £4.750.
Hell of a lot of car for not a lot of money. Still finding my way round it.
First impressions, especially after the Clio are that it needs careful driving, rather than the point and shoot of the 172. It is heavy, but very secure on the road. Not had any opportunity to really push it yet, we'll see how well it takes to the 'ring.
BTW, one very well maintained Clio 172 is for sale for not a lot of money if anyone is interested.
