kawasaki er500 ticking over/revving issue

Hi. I've recently purchased a X reg kawasaki er 500 as a winter project.

My dad advised me on the bike even though it started but didn't run, with the intention of getting it sorted and ready for after I've passed my test.

The seller said that the bike needed it carbs cleaning out and that it should start and run fine afterwards. However, now the bike will start when jumped but cuts out when the revs go above 1000.

Just need some advice on what to look for next or what's the best thing to try next.
