Hey,
Just get a cheap one with a zip if you are not a fan of neon flaps.. fiver of the neon shore on the local market, three quid without the zip..
I carry mine in me rucksack, for when I run out of petrol on the A13 (so I get through a few..) but you could wear it riding too, I guess.. dark winter shite mornings it helps and if it's peeing down I'll stick the waterproof fleece lined one one (£14 quid for same stall). It's hard to look "cool" at 5:45am on a wet windy January morning so I'll look like warm, dry, neon balloon instead.
I'm thinking of bringing my own brand out actually, with the slogan "FCUK Polite" "don't THINK so" or "See me now?).. Only kidding really, I'm neon and proud when the situation requiers, but my balls shrink just a little and nothing really changes, still invisible unless you are doing 40 in the slow lane of Mway in spray from hell in the dark.. I'm glad I can pull over and bib up, im not bothered if I advertise to the world i got my ball shrinking bib on, cuz they can help, like mobile phones they are good sometimes, but they can actually be left at home too..

Hi-Viz doesn't even work on the building sites where is belongs.
The issue for bikers on the road the contemptuous attitude of car, van, turck, taxi-bastirt drivers.
Even if they see you they'll still pull out.
Better observation and roadcraft will be cheaper, more effective and not need a special/delicates cold temperature wash to maintain. ____________________ Disclaimer: The comments above may be predicted text and not necessarily the opinion of MCN. |

Rarely use it unless its really foggy or i'm riding at night but i've got one of these.
Can keep a card in the chest pocket for getting petrol etc. Be warned though - it does cost a whole £1 more than the velcro ones ... but my old velcro one started blowing open after a while so i'd say blow the bank and get a zip one.
Apply battenburg and polite decals as required; depending on how ridiculous you want to look . |

Well, I reckon that not so far ahead Hi-Viz will be a thing of the passed, anyway.
Bound to become an industry standard, Honda, as I'm sure you're aware, is now producing cars that have gizmos installed to make the driver aware of certain facts concerning their (lack of) spatial awareness.
For example, that right in front of their nose are two-foot+ road signs everywhere that are, apparently, not at all visible to your average Daily Mail Dyslexic who can't actually read the fucking road.
So it takes no great stretch of imagination to envisage the same sort of heads-up, both audible and visual, to the presence in their vicinity of two-wheelers, surely.
The audible perhaps something along the lines of
"OI, YER CRETINOUS FUCKTARD --- WATCH OUT --- THERE'S A MOTORCYCLIST YONDER. (YES, YOUR HAIR LOOKS FINE, NOW CONCENTRATE.")
Worth reflecting on, at least? ____________________ There's a fine line between integrity |

I wear one every now and then, usually an orange one my dad stole from his work, I prefer orange because it's a bit different to the usual yellow
There's never any rhyme or reason behind me wearing a hi-vis. Sometimes, I'll bung it on, go green laning and then it's just plastered in mud and was completely pointless, I do wear it when green laning so the rambliars think I'm a more responsible rider. Other times, it will be shite visibility and I'll just bung my completely black leather jacket on and go. Sometimes I'll wear hi-vis then put a rucksack on, rendering it useless.
My motorbike jackets are XL, so I went for XXL with the hi-vis, so it sits properly without pinching on shoulders, it flaps a bit but I don't care at all, I don't notice it, much like everyone else. ____________________ Current:1991 Honda MT50 (Soon to be a H100/MTX/MT5 hybrid), 1976 Honda Cub C70, 2005 Honda Varadero 125, 1993 Yamaha TTR250 Open Enduro , 2010 Road Legal Stomp YX140, 1994 Honda CRM 250 MK III, 1999 Cagiva Mito 125, 1992 Honda CB400 Super Four, Stomp T4 230, 1984 Honda H100s, 2009 Sym XS125K

I have this one in orange. Well made and on a dark night in pissing rain on a motorway it does make me more visible than just a tiny rear light.
As it's on top on my jacket it gets put on as one so gets worn most of the time. |
