PostPosted: 10:43 - 25 Sep 2015    Post subject: New James Bond Spectre Theme - Opinions Reply with quote

BBC News wrote:
Reactions to Sam Smith's theme song for new James Bond film Spectre vary widely following its unveiling earlier on Nick Grimshaw's Radio 1 breakfast show.

Former Bond actor Sir Roger Moore called Writing's On the Wall "very haunting and wonderfully orchestrated".

But other Twitter users have been less complimentary, with one describing it as the "worst Bond theme ever".

BBC entertainment correspondent Colin Paterson said it was "good enough, but not a classic".

What do you lot think of the theme tune for the latest film?
( https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p033gs7c Thanks Grr666)

Has it got a View To A Kill the music charts or is it more likely to scare The Living Daylights out of dedicated fans?
By my count this will be the 24th Bond film, isn't it time the franchise was allowed to Live and Let Die?
I personally don't like the new tune,The World Is Not Enough isn't done to convince me it's a bond theme, besides the orchestra backing. It's not surprising that it took just 20minutes to come up with this theme, if only Sam spent Die Another Day writing the song, it wouldn't sound like a bag of cats. But that's just me, others may have a better GoldenEye for music than me.
Just shove 007 on the title and it's a Licence to Kill print money. One day the whole thing will Skyfall flat on it's ass then the film industry will be forced to find a new moneyMoonraker.

Cool

He's no Chris Cornell. Cornell could have sung the fuck out of this without going falsetto to hide his lack of range.

Annoying vibrato falsetto is annoying and no substitute for actually being able to sustain a note.

I nominate Justin from the Darkness.

You omitted the 'Who gives a f*ck' option.

I saw this on the BBC news headlines and have to wonder what's going on in the world, when the new James Bond movie theme is deemed as one of the most important news stories of the day.

Totally agree, I hate listening to news and people crying about stuff. If its that much of an issue go and fix it yourself.

FWIW you can't really bitch about a singer using their voice unless you know how to use yours. Think you can do better, then prove it.

Eh? Of course you can.

Me thinking a song sounds crap has nothing to do with my singing ability.

I like how asking opinions on a new song, has transformed into a discussion around media portrayal & points of view Laughing
Glad we all agree it's shit though Thumbs Up

Yes I can. I just did.

vide supra

So what you're saying is you aren't allowed to say someones singing is shit unless it's worse than your own?

Whats with the new craze of male singers mumbling words and trying to sing high-pitched like a girl? They should have got Chris Cornell to do another one instead.

I think it's to match their looking like a girl and acting like one.

Gonna have to disagree with you Paddy.

You're basically saying that unless you can achieve a better result than someone, you cannot critise the work they do. Confused
Which limits everyone to only critise people with a similar profession or hobbies.

By that logic:
I cannot comment on Sam Smith because am not a singer
I cannot comment on Political matters as I am not a politician
I cannot comment on any sports because I am not a professional sportsperson.
I cannot comment on the build quality of any Car or Bike ...

Seems a tad bit flawed that Neutral
Does that mean you cannot express criticism for your beloved Destiny?
