*phew!*
Just got back from RideInBikeTyres in Reading with two new BT010s in one piece!
I HATE scrubbing in new tyres and felt like I was riding on ice for the first few hundred yards but having got home I can see I've gone over a bit each side without being silly.
Fingers crossed for a hot sunny weekend so I can get 'em over a bit further!

I think it was an 010 John had on the rear of his vfr?

Anyway, after a few laps of a roundabout they were fine for knee down. (left and right).
They had probably done a total of about 5 miles at this point.

Thanks for the reassurance! I've not got my knee down yet (although I managed to scrape my boot on a motorway slip road in France!) but I'll keep trying. It's the hanging off bit that scares me... Embarassed

Thing that always makes me wonder about scrubbing in new tyres is this;

To do the shoulders there has to be some point that the bike is right over. If they tell you to take it easy for the first 100 miles to scrub them in, how do you do that for the edges? There always has to be a first time on that new bit of rubber and you have to be giving it some to do it. Hmmm. Confused

Therefore I think to myself, "If that bit is ok to use in that way, then surely the rest is and it's all a load of boll*cks about scrubbing in."

Just a meandering thought that always crosses my mind at new tyre time. Rolling Eyes

Well I found the new rear tyre didn't affect performance greatly for me. But once I had the new front tyre, I was all over the shop, nearly lost the front quite a few times! Embarassed

Mark at Ride In told me:

"You can still lean a bike on new tyres, but you just need to ease the bike over instead of hard countersteering. After a few miles the surface will be gone and you can ride as normal again."

As far as I know, hard acceleration and hard-ish braking are OK on new tyres, but you need to be a bit careful in corners. HTH Thumbs Up

I might ask nicely if they can scrub it in a bit !

Don't worry about it. You probably won't even notice the difference unless you ride it like a twat. (not saying you are, just an expression) If anything it will probably feel better than the tyre you're getting replaced. Thumbs Up

Just got some 010s on mine and took it carefully but was worrying about leaning over. Did about 30 miles and the looked like this, practically finished off that edge now.

Cath - what price do you pay...? did you know that Micheldever is possibly the best in the area (give them a ring next time)......and by the time you've ridden back to Reading they would be well scrubbed in?

Oh and I personally prefer D207's on the sv, they feel awesome on my bike. Giving so much more confidence - even that the 010's!!!

Paid £192 fitted. I'll call Micheldever next time, but was very impressed with the service at RideInBikeTyres and Mark's a nice guy, so they'd have to be quite a bit cheaper...

Tell me now, why don't you?!!! Laughing Wink Laughing
I've heard a lot of good things about the BT010s and anything is better than the MEZ4s which were on it already.
