Speedo is cracked

So my speedo's glass cover is cracked and it started off tiny but is now getting bigger and bigger and is about to go across the whole speedo right through the middle, what can I do about it?

Reckon it'd be covered under two year warranty?

I would say it should be, but you can bet you are going to have a 'discussion' with your dealer about how it happened.

That's the problem, I have no idea, it just appeared in the corner and started growing over the course of a few months. Thought it'd stop but it didn't and now it's huge.

Might have to ring them up and see. They can't blame it on any of the modifications I've done to the rest of the bike, right? I haven't touched the speedo or anything near it.

I was thinking more along the lines of 'You must have dropped something on it for that to happen Sir, that isn't a warranty repair'

It's not a consumable part and "you must have done it" can be used as a pretence for fobbing off anything.

Nicey-nice, matey-mate to begin with of course, but at the first sign of teeth-sucking, assert that nothing was "done" to it, that it's a material defect and that they can either replace it themselves or you'll get it done elsewhere and invoice them, their choice.

Best if you actually mean it.

If its actually cracking I'd probably drill the smallest possible hole at the end of the crack to stop it going further the little drop of superglue or silicone.

So I drove it up to dealership and had a word with the mechanic and he's taken a bunch of pictures and is going to put it forward to the "warranty team" and see what they say. If they deny it then it's apparently £40 for the replacement part. Not bloody paying that's for sure.

Let's see how it goes anyway.

If there is an impact mark, you should pay if it is just a crack starting from the edge they should. Kick off if they don't letters, Email, Facebook, Twitter etc.
