HONDA MT5 / MT100 projects

Not sure why but my 'MT' projects seem to have leapfrogged everything else to the front of my restoration queue. I bought a few projects in the last 5 years.. (4 Yam DT's, 2 TZR's and an MT5 which morphed into 2 bikes...) which are queued up for resto and possible sale...

Project 1, the MT5 or MT6 as it will be... is ready for building after finally finding a frame & getting a reg number... (1st frame which came with the bike needs to be dated by VJMC or HOC as there was no number plate with the bike) now using 2nd frame which was HPI'ed to reveal the reg number

Project 2 is on the bench coming together albeit not ready for building BUT 85% parts sourced.

My question is: Project 1 will be fitted with a 60 kit and a few tweaks to get it to do 50-55mph... Obviously the standard MT clock goes to 45mph. Ideally I'd like to know the speed I am doing, so I don't get pulled by the Feds all the time. I will end up buying the MT8 speedo from EBAY.DE as at least it goes to 90kmph (I moonlight as a truck driver so I know this is 56mph & I'm pretty good with the conversion... 50kmph is roughly 31mph etc. etc. etc..

BUT project 2 will have the H100 engine. Now I've already had the swinging arm modded by a local engineering company to take the 17 inch H100 rear wheel (MT5 has the 16 inch rear wheel with 14mm spindle - H100 has the 17 inch rear wheel with 16mm spindle). So I hope that my MT10 or MT100 will be good for 65mph tops... I know that the MT clock for the MT8 won't get me to 65mph so I've been looking for an alternative. I've looked at the Honda family and my 1st choice was something like an XL100 / XL125 set of clocks BUT they've now fallen into the realms of the classic bike fraternity and part prices have gone through the roof. I did pick up a reasonable set of clocks from a H100 (I want to use the tacho on the H100 as well) BUT they're made for use with a 17 inch wheel...

Will they show the correct speed used with the 21 inch wheel? (appreciate that the odometer reading may not be correct as it'll be a bigger wheel...?)

I'm still on 6V so I have not looked at the trick digital kit you can buy and to be honest I want it to look pretty standard... Looking forward to sneaking up on a few of the 50cc scooter boy's and blowing them into the weeds...

Got me thinking so I've just checked... Definitely a 17 inch rear wheel on the CG125 / H100 with a 14 mm spindle... (My FZR has a 17inch front and 18 inch rear.. There used to be an easy swap with a TZR but I'd guess they're long gone...)

Nearly there with the MT swinging arm.... Now milled to take the 14 mm H100 spindle and 17 inch wheel. Just chopped the spacer down on the brake side... oops bit to ambitious with the grinder.. 2 choices... pack with a washer - cheapest.. have a bespoke space made up... expensive OR find a 2nd hand spacer and have another go... watch this space
