This is my first time creating a thread in here.

Well as some of you know my k100 has been found (after it was stolen) I've been told to leave it alone and forget about/sell it. This includes Paddy; damn that makes me want to do it even more the king of gaffa and cable ties says get rid.

However as this was my first real big bike that I purchased. I don't feel I can let it go at the moment.

So my first project. Here are some images of what the bike looks like before and present.

Before

https://i.imgur.com/cJjqw7pl.jpg

After (Now as it stands)

https://i.imgur.com/3mwavPV.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/OSHMX0hl.jpg

And this is the idea of what I'm hoping for at present subject to change.

https://i.imgur.com/YYY76SB.jpg

Damage list;

Well damage assessment obviously;

Battery (Got a spare that will fit)
Clocks
Mudguard
Headlight
Indicators
Air box part
FICU
Number plate holder + number plate
Seat
Water cap
Tail light
Head light holder
Tank
Ignition
Grips + Throttle case

I'd consider running the seat up the tank a bit like the original....then Rat the fuck out of it.

I prefer the Rat type bikes to be honestly Ratted. Non of this cargo net everywhere for the sake of it or overuse of black paint. If it's rusty then paint that bit to protect it, otherwise you're entering inverse-hipster-ville with the wrong beard oil.

Guess I'm saying just do stuff to make it work for you (you're not growing a beard are you?).

Just a little update, will give a better one later. I finished work this morning and went straight up to where the bike was collected from. No Ecu was found however I have found side panels and mirrors.

Now for the nae sayers I could sell the mirrors for about £30 each and side panels up to £40. Or I could use them gives me some food for thought.

Also ripped some of the waste away I'll upload a picture when I wake up.

Reality check - just because you paid £40 for a scabby side panel doesn't mean anybody else will.

Advice - get it running and make sure the motor is OK before you spend any (more) money on bodywork, ammo boxes, king&queen seats and other possibly unnecessary add-ons Thumbs Up

Hmm I am just letting it grow not actually growing it for a purpose. Doubt I'll ever get a full wizard though.

This k100 is a first generation, it was from the first year they came out. Parts are getting rarer, have a look on ebay or a website called motorworks. It's not just because I paid for them it's what they go for.

I'll take your advice in though and I am planning on getting it running.

Right now for the update first a few images removed some of the damaged plastics/fairing stuff. Now looks like this;

https://i.imgur.com/j20RyoTl.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/bJ3Xacdl.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/J5Oorcul.jpg

Now after doing all this the Bibo has obviously decided get her own back on me for letting her get taken. Yes it has resulted in a bit of blood. Crying or Very sad

https://i.imgur.com/Ghx3MSDl.jpg

OK so that's the damage first off got to try get it running, throttle case can be bent back should be ok. Battery is sorted so FICU (Fuel Injection Control Unit) is going to be first thing on the list. I'll wait till that gets here then go from there.

here's a cheapish ecu
get it to run first and check there's no serious internal damage to the engine before
throwing any more money at it

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-K100-Ignition-Control-Unit-CDI-ECU-89-cr/391266399155?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D33661%26meid%3D8486835aa3524c578dd38fc89f39498f%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D271756569344

Dont put a silly wee front mudguard on it unless its a fair weather ponce bike for obvious reasons

Thank you on order. I was going to put the normal mudguard back on it; this is going to be my winter hack most probably next year as well as an all round weather bike.

Hmm hang on a mo, bin finkin

You sure you need the ecu not the EFI box?
The ecu ( ignition) is under the tank and tucked under the frame tubes
but the EFI box with its fat cable and connector is under the seat and easier for scrotes to
get at and rip out.
ECU and EFI terms often get swapped about
heres an efi box

Oops I did a Smiler Embarassed , not a great start in a project good luck I'm not really on a budget. However on a side note mine fitted to the bike might not be working.

Went for another that was advertised on ebay.

Same here there is something about the k that just brings out the fun, for me any-ways. Done another preliminary idea of the bike. Though I might go for a single saddle.

The seat is too badly damaged. I could try and make a new using it as a base Which I still might do; I'd have to get some good foam though for it.

Last time I looked everyone wanted £80-110 for a decent K100RS mirror, because they're easily broken. If the bike falls over they are the first thing to smash, then they pop off in bits!

Anyway, I would go minimal. Something like this:

https://www.bskspeedworks.co.uk/img/pictures/K100RR_2.jpg

But without the frame chopping, and keeping the panniers/seat. Certainly there is a lot of lard that can be removed..

Well update the FICU arrived so got to wait for some nice weather before I can try it. Don't fancy messing around in the rain. Fingers crossed that the bike starts.

I've got an idea in mind at the moment.. going see how the engine is first though. These are a few images of what the mirrors look like they are scratched and one has previously been glued due to it coming apart however not that bad at all.

Thank you at the moment I don't really thing there is any part that I'm actually after. Well there are a few in my list above but I wouldn't want to take them from your bike straight away as that looks like it could be back on the road Question

What happened to it to cause it to die Question

Gearbox shat itself catastrophically, rear shock is shot and it needs a new drive shaft. I've kept telling myself for the last year ill make it roadworthy, but another winter is coming and it's still sat there Sad

If i was going to fix it i'd want a recon gearbox, decent shock and a refurb shaft. last time i looked it would cost more than a running one sells for!

But as i said, its not going anywhere so if you do at any point need any bits its there.
