(A bit of background first)...I've just completed a questionnaire from Kent County Council about it's failed "safe and sensible street lighting" scheme. Basically, they spent £4.2M changing a load of old mechanically times street lights to switch off around midnight, to save £1M a year, then decided to scrap the scheme after less than 2 years, losing over £2M so we could go without street lights after 12.30AM, (or 11.30PM after the clocks go back).

Of the 17 questions in the online questionnaire, (13, but some have an "a" section with another question), 3 of them where basic "Are you completing this as an individual" or "What is your postcode" types. 9, yes 9 of the 17 questions were asking me about race, gender, religion, disability, ethnicity, age and sexual orientation.

This perfectly sums up the idiocy with local government in today's society. This is where the money, time and effort is being wasted. The consultation is more interested in making sure all the political correctness boxes are ticked, than it is about what people's actual views on street lighting are. You couldn't make it up.

17 questions, only 5 of which are actually relevant to street lighting and 9 of which are for political correctness. (with the other 3 being basic questions about who you are).

This was where the PC crap starts, they expect you to read a 31 page document/study about how race, religion, sexual orientation and whether you've had a sex change effects your need for street lighting, then comment on it. before moving on to the ridiculous barrage of PC questions which make up he bulk of the questionnaire.
