Hi, I'm sharing this in case it saves someone else some grief. I have a 2008 street triple that came with an R&G tail tidy. Yesterday in the middle of nowhere it fell off and dropped onto the back wheel hanging on the wiring - luckily it was as I pulled away from a junction at walking pace. Shocked

I took a close look today and it looks like metal fatigue due to poor design and the thin alloy. Although the number plate and lights aren't that heavy its been bouncing up and down causing fatigue, cracks and then failure. Surprising considering the bike has done less than 10k miles in its life.

I suggest anyone who has an alloy R&G tail tidy take a close look underneath and give it a good waggle to check its not doing the same.

I've got photos if I ever get around to figuring out how to post them. Smile

cheers,

Chris
