Hi Guys,

I find the laws regarding visor and goggles confusing, but from what ive heard, goggles are regarded differently to visors and as such, tinted goggles are legal?

I've got a Shark Vancore helmet which came with a dark tinted lenses in the goggles as stock, and have recently picked up a irdium green lenses. Neither lenses are marked in anyway. I have found the following links which state the following;

https://www.firecrestmoto.co.uk/blog/sha ... s-out-now/

“They don’t come under ECE22-05 visor regulation. It is EN 1938 : 2010 F Class 2 -75% light transmission for daytime use only. Not suitable for driving @ night or Twilight. 100% uv protection 400 filter.”

https://www.facebook.com/firecrestmoto/ ... 9117116348

"Hi Ali, these lenses are classed slightly different to visors, and are allowed for daytime use only. Nicki"

Checking with a local bike shop, they also stated that they should be road legal. So, what do you guys think?

I believe that if there is no approval marking (e.g. BS number ) on the visor/lens then it is not strictly legal whatever the grade of tint/mirror.

It's a shame that visors aren't like verifocal lenses. Just imagine ride in any light condition and you can see 100% fine.

Interesting I'll have to look into this, never really bothered before as I mainly like to have my flip helmet up with just the sun-visor down.

So i assume i would get pulled, just due to the color? Howver, i ahvent seen any goggle lenses that have markings on them.

TRUTH.

Sure, if you like. However, if the utterly infinitesimal risk of a £100 non-endorsable fixed penalty bothers you, you should stop riding a motorcycle.

This.

Unless you do something to get pulled over they may do you for it at the same time.

My visor is an Arai blue iridium. I keep a clear one in the topbox.

I used to wear tinted goggles (iridium ) when I had my DRZ400 .. I even used to carry a clear pair on the bike in case I got pulled or was out after dark ... even had a trawl round the peak district ...
frankly no one could care less.. or was slightly interested...

Because that level of flagrant disregard for laws of Her Majesty's Highway is a solid link to the 1% lifestyle.
