UK DRIVING TEST PASS AND CBT

Hi guys.

I'm 18 and interested in getting a 125. I haven't passed my car test yet but I hope too soon, if after I pass I get a bike and pass my CBT will I still have to ride with L plates? Would I have to renew my CBT every two years? And also, would I have to take my theory test ever again?

The car and bike tests are completely separate.
You need separate theory tests (the car and bike one are slightly different). The CBT still needs to be renewed every year. You still need L plates until you take a full bike license.
* except if you are riding a 50cc moped, in which case you only need a CBT and it lasts forever if you have a full car license, assuming you get the same rights that us old farts do.

CBT needs to be renewed every two years, not every year. Moped on a car license is for those who passed before Feb 2001. Otherwise they require L plates and CBT renewals or a bike/ped license, same as a 125. I wonder if anyone these days actually does take a test on a moped. Seems like a daft thing to do.

As above, though I gather conventional wisdom would be to either wait until you can do A2 or else get a cheapish 125 to tide you over until then. Repeating CBT seems to me to be a waste of time, unless you genuinely cannot afford the one off cost of training for a license of dome sort.

Assumption is wrong, granddad rights are only for drivers who passed (IIRC) before Feb 2001, after that you need a CBT.
Also of course you need a provisional entitlement for whatever it is you want to learn to ride.
Tl;Dr; Nowadays your car licence means bugger-all when it comes to bikes.
