excel issue

still a newb really to excel, been workin on a 'project' for a bit and now stuck at the last hurdle.

basically I have a stopwatch... click start and it measures in 00:00:00.000. when I write a formula something like

D3 + E3 + F3 = XXXX

as the D3 is the stopwatch figure, the formula doesn't work. the stopwatch runs down B column... if I use the =B3 in the D3 cell, the xxx is #N/A. if I manually write the 00:00:00.200 (for example) then the XXX gives me an answer.

how can I make the stopwatch bit work automagically without having to type the numbers in?

problem is I3.... manually type in the number from D3 and it generates a number in J3.

Do =D3 in the I3 cell and although the same stopwatch number shows in I3, J3 becomes N/A

ah for fook sake cant attatch 'The Extension xlsm is not allowed'
