So. Went to fit a ground anchor today and failed. The bolts that come with the anchor were shocking

Instructions said drill 65mm down into the ground 89mm apart. Hammer drill made that easy with a 16mm bit.

When I went to hammer the expanding bit in it disintegrated l. The other side went in ok but when I tried screwing the Allen bolt in it got to a certain point and then something broked so now the Allen bolt won't go in any further

Question. Where can I get alternative expander thingys. The anchor looks great but the stock ones were shite

If you get the old one out you may just have to put it back together and use it.

Take back what you have of the ground anchor and get a refund, purchase something better.

As per NJD, but places like Wickes used to stock those, could try there.

Most hardware places, even the likes of B&Q etc. Stock expanding bolts, which will be of better quality. If you can find a smaller engineers merchant, such as Websters, Brabbin & Rudd etc. They tend to stock better quality ones in my experience. Thumbs Up

You can break an Oxford ground anchor with your foot. Might as well leave bike unlocked and keys in it.

If you value your bike, buy an almax and a proper ground anchor that sinks into concrete.

Now, just cos I worked for them (and may I stress the past tense of that statement) doesn't mean I'm pro Oxford Products Laughing But you do realise they do more than one ground anchor? And that they're not all the same strength?

Not that I'm recommending any, you understand Laughing

It was in budget, unfortunately. I've gone to the screwfix down the road and got some plugs to fit and its all bolted down now. Stock plugs were made of cheese

Only down side is I need to order some Allen head countersunk bolts of le bay as right now its got normal bolts in.

Fwiw the ground anchor seems strong. Certainly not the greatest but at the price I think itl be a decent deterrent

Try Pragmasis for epoxy fasteners.

Have a look at the site they are the only anchors and chains I would trust.

They have how 2 videos even a mong could follow.

I have an Oxford Anchor Force double layered anchor bolted into a brick wall, among other security measures.
Unless Oxford use chocolate in the manufacture of these things, I can't see how it would fair any less under attack than its similar Pragmasis 'Double Doofer' Laughing Laughing Laughing counterpart.
Oh wait, it has the words 'very secure' in bold letters. Rolling Eyes
