Copying the idea of Sumerset Scratcher (https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=31169), I thought I'd write about my ride I took today.

Started off doing some domestic tasks, stopped off in Marchwood then to Applemore College to do some work. Left via the forest, and headed toward Lyndhurst. Learnt that its a good idea to fill up BEFORE you start riding around places you don't know too well. Had a slow journey through Lyndhurst, didn't mind much though, was going to try and head to Cadnam/Copythorne, but decided I needed fuel rather urgently so continued toward Totton on the A road.

Filled up at a Texico garage - 89.9 pence per litre , and continued through West Totton toward Copythorne. Was planning on doing my regular circular forest route backwards today, so started on that but then saw a sign for "Willow", and thought "There’s a place that does really good Ice Cream there", so turned off.

Ended up on A36 toward Salisbury, decided I didn't want to go there, but saw Romsey signposted so turned off and headed in that direction. Lovely ride through the Forest/farmland, really glad I live in an area that you can get out and enjoy these things.

Anyway, stopped in Romsey to get drinks/sausage roll - very pleased, as when I entered the car park, stopped to get wallet out and looked at the guy on the booth who said "Don't worry about it" and let me in. I assume Motorcycles got free parking, but was very pleased at that, as wasn't really planning on stopping for long.

Had a drink/sausage roll, very nice, freshly made, and got back on the road - slight disappointment was I've lost my neckwarmer, must have fallen out of my helmet as I was walking around Really felt the difference when I got back out.

Was planning on heading home, but went the wrong way and ended up heading toward Salisbury again. Was hoping to see a road pointing somewhere close to home, but didn't so turned around and returned - total 40 minutes going the wrong way, and getting back. Was quite a hilly road, and my 4-Stroke 125 didn't cope too well with it, so pulled over a few times to let cars pass me. Still had a few tossers doing utterly stupid overtakes though.

Got back to Romsey and left on the right way this time, returned home via Shirley.

All in all a good ride, just over 100km since the petrol station.

Plan for tmw? I intend to get the carb off and take a look at the fuel mix screw, the head is wrecked and its all the way in - not ideal! Black sparkplugs all the way. Also need to phone up local training center, and talk to them about Courses/Tests.

Craig
