When I've been on the way to or from the Nurburgring, German drivers have attempted to do that several times, to me and the bikes I was with. Some of the older, law abiding chaps seem to think you deserve it if you overtake in a no-overtaking stretch. They have a thing about obeying the rules. When you're a pedestrian and you cross the road without waiting for the green man, you get a lot of furious tutting and head-shaking, even if there are no cars around.

They do that to cars to in Germany, through roadworks normally if they think you are speeding they try to block the Englander.

The few times I've had to filter on the autobahn (near complete standstill traffic), cars parted like the Red Sea - it was remarkable, and I've never seen anything like it in any other country in Europe.

People were probably very surprised to see a bike filtering - I passed a few German-plated 1200GSes looking like they really wanted to start filtering - and who knows, they may have thought I was police, or I may have made myself liable to have been shot on sight by the authorities and they wanted to clear the sightlines, but no-one swerved into me, or tried to block me in any way.
