 |
|
Due to uneven pad wear I'm going to chuck new pads in after I clean up the front caliper and figure out what's sticking.
Don't know what's in there now, there's no stamp on it but it looks very coppery so I'm presuming sintered.
After an idiot nutter close-encounter the other day I'm hoping to improve the braking performance a bit but not sure what I should be going for for my usage.
- Road use only, legal speeds honestly officer
- Rain? Yes. Obviously.
- Only brake if I have to; for junctions, particularly sharp corners and idiot nutters.
I've been reading stuff about how you have to warm up sintered, which wouldn't seem to be what I want because I use them so little in normal riding. But then organic is not the best in the wet or something...
Then there's blue carbon ceramic Brembo road ones. Because blue. And carbon ceramic. ____________________ Honda CB500S |

On your CB500S?
Brembo are worth the extra in my oppinion.
It'll be a Brembo braking system anyway. may as well use the pads to match.
I always use sintered if only for their performance in the wet (sintered pads are unaffected by water on the disc).
I've found EBC to be quite variable. Their sintered materials are not all the same. The ones I had for my GPZ500 had a gold coloured backing plate and were very good. The ones they supplied for my KLE500 had a red backing plate and were dire, despite them both claiming to be a sintered pad. Both bikes have the same brake calliper... ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

I use Brembo SA (red), alright performance, work even when dead cold. I did not want to go for the racing stuff, since my mate had once race-spec pads and those pads did not work well when cold, great performance when warmed up, but then, the race pads did not really work when cold. So, I decided to go for something that works alright all the time no matter what, rather than perfect performance under perfect conditions only. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ
