Hi guys. Ive recently bought a yamaha thundercat to do up for my missus for whenshe passes her test. I bought it off my mate as a project. Its in decent condition however he recently snapped the chain at low speed causing damage to the sprocket casing & clutch push rod. Im hoping this is fixable with a new push rod, seal & casing. What concerns me is the hole that the pushrod goes through is slightly distorted. Could this be fixed with a liquid metal of some kind or is it a swap of engine??. Your advice would be much appreciated.
Regards Dai

If the new rod goes through and the seal holds oil it should be good. Put up a photo of the damage.

I don't know if it appears differently on a mobile but normally you'd do the following:

Click "post reply"

Type your reply.

Click "Add an attachment".

Click "choose file"

Navigate to the picture you want to attach on your device.

Click "add attachment"

Rinse and repeat until you've added all the attachments you want, then click submit.

OR

Upload the pictures to a third party hosting site like photobucket and using the direct link to the picture type the following in your reply:

dry it off with some brake cleaner or another trichloroethylene type spray so it is oil free and use some really good sealant around the seal, some proper three bond crankcase stuff like yamabond or kawabond and then let it dry before you test it

my mate ripped the water pump out of his hayabusa crankcases when the chain broke and got it repaired, sudden influx of nitrous oxide ovrcame the chain strength

Also change the front sprocket retaining nut to the upgraded item if not already done, they are prone to letting go which means a complete engine strip to replace the knackered output shaft.
