is this able to be used on an a2 ? need a second opinion

been looking for something to get on my a2 that will be purely to ride for fun and a few small commutes during the week and ive just seen this

the crf450 enduro it claims it has33.2kw power which means it meets the requirements for the max power ( 33.2 roughly converts to 45 ish hp) and the bike itself has a kerb weight of 121kg so i thought oh great i bet its way out of the power to weight allowed but after searching 33.2kw power with 121kg its coming up with a ratio of 0.1668992502 so does this mean i can use it on an a2 license ? from what i see i can and i think it would be alot of fun thanks Smile

please let me know if im wrong

You either need more weight or less power in your chosen bike.

I'm guessing you want to ride a full on enduro 450cc bike because it is light, and powerful, and also very good for competition off road useage.

Most A2'ers don't want a road legal bike that's capable of winning open class enduro events, so I assume that you either are trying to get around the system to have a more powerful bike? Or that you are a serious off road rider competitively, and need a capable bike for your class, but want to be able to use it to and from events or for occasional road use too?

No one would with any sense want to ride a CRF450 as their daily road bike for all their riding, as it offers very little compared to proper road bikes or even dual purpose trail bikes.

You are right i am trying to find myself a nice powerful bike even though on an a2 my reason for that though is i will not be using it as a daily commuter it will literally be for weekend use to go on small trails and track use every no and again to have fun i said it may be used for small commutes if for some reason i want to ride instead of drive to work as it isnt far from home i was thinking of just getting a mx bike for track use but as soon i can get an a2 id like one that i can ride on the road too to get to trails and whatever else needed. i was looking into a supermoto for commuting but seeing as the mpg on most offroad a2 bikes is like i thought i may aswell just get something that will be fun to ride rather than worrying about all the costs Smile

Please stop. This becomes tedious. That site is written by the same sort of spergs that post the same sort of pish on Wikipedia. It's clearly not A2 compliant, and you know fine well it's not. Ride it, don't ride it, it's your choice.

My only other point is that any competition enduro bike, is a crap bike for road use. Full knobbly tyres suck on the road, and the bike cannot be safely left anywhere as they are too easy to steal.

Riding one on the road for fun, unless it's never to get you anywhere, and you never park it and leave it anywhere, is a waste of time.

The only justification for having a competition enduro bike road legal and using it on the road is to get you to off road sites, and between sections of events also.

Oh and you mentioned trail riding, MX and supermoto. In my opinion an off road capable bike and a supermoto are a very different set of requirements, and it's only fools that think that bolting on a spare set of wheels and changing the gearing makes a bike go from the Ideal enduro bike, to the ideal supermoto machine instantly.

Too much needs to be changed to make a bike good for either use, so one bike can't do both jobs well IMO.
