getting a bit chilly out, any recommendations for inner gloves?

i see the usual materials are silk like these:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Thin-Silk-liner-inner-Gloves-Ski-motorcycle-skiing-walking-cycling/131127984485?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D33424%26meid%3Ddec8b8d85922427d9a71c5f4893679d0%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D6%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D370495224068

or a type of acrylic/spandex type:

At those prices, get them both and report back. Thumbs Up

I bought some of the silky ones, they made a bit of a difference on particularly bitter days.

Dont bother, they are not much good and can make it colder as they take up valuable space within your glove, where normally it would have good air insulation. If they or your hands are slightly damp it with have the opposite effect, heat will transmit much easier from your hand to the wind. Opening a garage that has a damp/wet handle is enough to do this. Mine were expensive dianeese branded silk shite. Heated grips are also rubbish. Last year I tried hand guards, not great either.

I would currently recommend these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261630340013 or the slightly more expensive bike-it branded version, or the much more expensive tucano umbero version, depending how good you are at minor modifications:
- cutting out the vagina elastic
- mounting on bar ends
- a plastic rib inside to keep it fully expanded

They are very warm, and keep gloves dry. I can see myself wearing summer A* sp8 gloves through most/all of winter. Without muffs I would be looking at expensive winter gloves...

Go go karting and acquire some inner gloves from there. Wink

They might come with free ebola or maybe a bit of aids but <shrugs>.

I wear these thin silk liners with summer gloves all year round, mainly because my old Alpinestars give me a rash on the back of my hand otherwise. They wick in summer and I wouldn't complain about hot hands anyway, but I reckon they make a small, worthwhile contribution to keeping the worst of the cold at bay in winter. Worth a try anyway.

I wore a pair of silk inner gloves until they died. I loved them. By the time I'd finished with them they had turned into fingerless gloves! In fact I think they are still in a pocket somewhere!

My OH didn't rate his.

I got silk ones in go outdoors the other day, they're really warm. I guess it depends on how much room there is in your gloves as to how effective they are, but i didn't put them back on for a short journey as my hands were roasting! In fact an hour at 70ish in light rain and they were still toastie when I arrived.

Heated Grips and 'Proper' winter gloves.

If the gloves have poor insulation then the heat from the grips just blows away. Trap the heat in the gloves and you will not want to stop riding. It's a bugger when you have to stop for a cuppa though. Sad

There is/are no cheap option/s if you want to still look cool.

If you don't wish to look cool then ghetto milk cartons, Muffs (Muffuckinarse) and or those uber-ghey fool-length leggin's are the way to go.

Bought a £4 pair of silk gloves from eBay, only wore them once before the battery died on the VFR this week, but for my 25-30 minute commute they helped, not sure how they'd fare against a longer ride tho.

I have Halvarssons silk:

https://www.bykebitz.co.uk/motorcycle-clothing/halvarssons-lindstrands-motorcycle-clothing/halvarssons-motorcycle-clothing/halvarssons-gloves/halvarssons-silk-inner-gloves.html

and EDZ merino wool:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/963-EDZ-Merino-Liner-Gloves/dp/B002USK00K

Both work, the silk ones actually are warmer, the wool ones are better for handling moisture.

I am gonna buy these too: https://www.getgeared.co.uk/revit-helium-moisture-wicking-inner-gloves-black

I became big fan of inner gloves. Not only for warm, but taking on and off the gloves is actually easier. And without liners sometime you sweat and the gloves gets wet. Than you need dry pair to ride back, because wet gloves are not very good to keep your hands warm.

With liners my gloves are always dry.
