Best 50cc scooter?

Well new scooters are so costly so I've decided to go 2nd hand.

I've been looking Bike Trader and not sure which is good and which is bad... so, what do you think is the best 50cc scooter? It'd really help me out, thanks!

Are you going to then move onto something bigger when you are 17? If so, and even if not I'd say you're best off getting a geared 50cc bike. And not something like an RS50 as that just has lots of expensive fairing which are not needed and you'll have just as much fun and learn just as much on a bike without fairing. Get something like the DT50 or TS50 and don't spend more than about £800 as more than that is just a waste and you'll loose lots when you come to sell it. Keep an eye on Ad Trader for ones in your area, there are lots around to pick from. Thumbs Up

I'm planning to move onto a car once I'm 17 (bikes don't kill me please!) so a scooter will do fine. Confused

Fair enough, I'd still say to go for something with gears as you will be more used to using gears and when you use them on the roads when you come to learning to drive. Not really able to say what is the best 50cc to get you should get some suggestions from people here but I expect you'll get more of a responce here. Thumbs Up

) look for an old c50 then... wont cost much and can leave in garage for when you get a C*R and run out of petrol money.. or sell it for same price afterwards

I agree with aqualung. Honda C50, biggest selling motorbike in the world (total sales) last time I looked.

Indestructable, cheap to insure, 45mph all day long, sip petrol. Parts are cheap (should you need them). Three gears on twist and go clutch so hills are a doddle.

C50 definitely a good idea. These Hondas are always popular, but from what I've seen, most people looking to buy them want £100 old ones with no tax/mot, whereas most people selling them are offering clean, well-maintained ones for about £400-700. Insurance should be peanuts too.

They'll easily cope with a year's abuse, but you'll certainly have a happier time if you try to do a bit of maintenance on it, for the simple reason that it will work better. Wink

If you don't like the idea of fiddling with mechanical stuff, then at least try to keep it clean. Please Very Happy
