Was riding around the other day and passed another bike....

So I was all ready to politely nod to the guy when he sticks out his right arm horizontally, points his thumb down (ala gladiator kind of thing) and moves his arm up and down.

So I'm thinking, wtf??

Now he could have just been telling me how much he disapproved of my bike / clothing choice /???, but I was wondering how people on here would interpret that signal?

It's auld trucker sign for Speedtrap ahead or PoPo in general. Or a VOSA check point ahead.

Or the signer thinks/knows your a whanker/ghey/woteva. Smile

It's actually rather complex... here goes..

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/188253/general/formula.jpg

Which, if you work through the equations, gets you to "I'm trying to make my motorcycle fly with one arm, and I'm not having much success at it"

I'd interpret it as him assuming that everyone is totally au fait with his particular little faggy sub-culture's so-special gang signs. Unless there was a speed tax collection point up the road, I don't imagine I'd be that interested in whatever it was that he was trying to communicate.

If I ever give you a thumbs down, it means there's something ahead you should take it easy past. Such as a speed trap or diesel on the road.

Almost certainly letting you know that there's a speed camera coming up and if you don't roll it you'll end up getting done.

I'd slow down and look out for a scamera, police or spilt diesel, also check I hadn't left my indicators or high beam on. Certainly a friendly warning, I'd say.

I thought the 'royal wave' was the textbook gesture for anything licence-losingy ahead Confused

He's got a left hand cramp and cannot change gears. He's asking you to shoot him down before he's run out of fuel. It happens...

Gloves on wrong hands?

(I'm not sure if that works, I'll have to try it at home later.)
