Trousers, good value and quality, advice please

Hello

guess not everyone here has to ride in the rain but I am one of those that have to brave the winter and use the bike at least 3 times a week covering 120 miles

I have been looking for trousers that cover descent protection and water proof ,
the prices seem to vary greatly from £40 (ebay) to £200 and I don't want to spend more than I need to

any advice or share of experience would be much appreciated
