Finance at the bottom of the barrel

So due to a series of bad decisions when I was younger and losing a job, my credit rating is absolutely mince.

I've noticed a crack on the swingarm of the ZX10R, so I'm resigning it to death and I'm going to get another bike. Problem being, I can't the finance for one. I've scored a great job that I love that pays fairly well, and I need transport to keep it going.

Other than a Guarantor loan, are there any other options for getting hold of something? It doesn't have to be a brand new 5-figure bike, but I don't want something I'm going to worry about starting every morning, or surviving through the winter. I have provable income and all that sort of stuff...

If your credit rating is in tatters, it's like that for a reason, you can't just rock up to a lender and make empty promises about being a changed man, you need to prove it over time.

Personally I'd recommend just saving up until you can buy outright. Your bike isn't dead yet. You just want a new one straight away. This could possibly how your credit rating ended up so bad in the first place - wanting things now now now...? Just a thought.

Also, how much do you think you need to spend on a bike to 'guarantee' it's going to survive through winter?

try zuto finance a finance broker company who will find you a lender

helped a mate of mine whos credit rating is completely shot.

they were very helpful and got him a bike and on the road all done in 3 days

how it worked was he paid a deposit for a bike which had to be less than 7 yrs old, have less than 15k miles and he paid a small depoist for the bike whilst the finance company paid the dealer direct.
he then went and collected the bike from the dealer job was done

the bike cost £1600 and hes paying back over 4 years £2200 which which is £40 per month

Plus on the 48th payment he has a lump sum to pay of £280

interest charged over 4 years is £600

if your credit rating is potato then your options for any sort of finance/loan/credit are limited and its hard to get the best deals

Replace the swing arm?

I snapped the swing arm on my old CBR600. It took about 3 hours to replace it.

If you measure carefully and ask around one from a different year may well fit too. My 1999 CBR had a 2004 CBR swing arm on it which was 5mm longer.

Can the crack in the frame be welded?

Otherwise could you not buy a cb500 or similar cheap to use for the time being and then save up for a flash bike.

Buy what you can afford with whatever you get for it.
