Just a quick safety question, I've got someone buying something off me, via a Facebook trading site, he wants to pay by PayPal, but as its for an expensive item (£700) I was just checking the safety of this.

I've heard stories in the past that PayPal payments can be reversed, how do I make sure that doesn't happen, is there any way to make sure I'm 100% safe?

Thanks all.

You don't. My understanding is that any PayPal payment can be reversed, even "gifts".

No.

Can you contact other sellers that he's done business with? I mean, ones that you can verify are legit sellers, not his alter egos.

Using Paypal as a seller is a recipe for disaster. Unless you photograph and document everything and even then it isn't worth the risk.

Bank transfer or cash.

Had a feeling that was the case, was just wondering if there was any way of securing yourself. Useless site!

Thanks everyone.

Not sure if it is still the case, but a bank transfer could be recalled up to 24 hours after it was made. May be worth checking with your bank?

Sadly not, for Faster Payments.

Your bank can request it is returned. But the other bank can only ask the account holder it went to, to allow them to do so. All the account holder has to do is ignore the requests and nothing can be done.
Other wise its not going to happen.
