ok as we're missing out on the TT next year i'm going to try for the NW200 for a day or two.

Not going on the bike but will be a lads trip, flying over on the friday and back on the sunday.

Need advice on where to stay, hotels, but which location? we wont have transport so how easy to get to the circuit if we stayed in belfast?

any other advice please

cheers

Get over there and hire car for it - you'll need it realistically.

Don't buy grandstand tickets - it's better from the street

Don't know about hotels as we camped it at Bushmills. I wouldn't want to do it from Belfast but with that said I drove from Dublin to get to campsite and I don't recall it being horrendous - have to go through Belfast on way.

Neither of the two main towns are anything special

We used to go over for the week as a family holiday, we stayed in Portrush on church corner just round from metropole. We drove over form Scotland, you will need a car to get about and remember if you go inside the track your limited where you can go. We stayed in cottage with a balcony overlooking the street which was great and could walk down to metropole and up to a pub at Magherabuoy Chicane.

I was actually looking into this last week. There are trains from Belfast to Coleraine and Portrush, staying in Belfast you'd avoid inflated prices. The train takes about 75 minutes and the times look early and late enough on the Saturday.

The Ulster GP is easier if you're flying. Get a bus from Central Belfast to Dundrod for about £3 (took 15-20 minutes) then it's roughly £12 for a cab once the races are over and the traffic's cleared. I'm biased because it was my first road racing experience but I bloody loved it and will be back next year. You get most of the big names there too.

ok cheers all, got me thinking about the UGP now, will look in to this.

I was basically planning a lads weekend, so flying over for lots of beer, some racing and then more beer. So hiring a car over there kind of spoils those plans. The UGP might be the answer, thanks

Bit of an old thread but yes Ulster is miles better than the nw could ever be, majority of national rounds are better than the North west as well
