Only gets faster.

You could try living close to sea level, you'll age slower.

Actually it would be more ideal to build a home on top of Mount Everest. Or the International Space station. Time dilation happens at places of higher relative velocity.

But then you'd have to come back down to normal altitude at some point so as to notice the effects of time slowing down. And you'd only be a few milliseconds younger than everyone around you anyway Very Happy

I once lived below sea level, so I should have got younger.

Lord Percy ruined it Laughing

It doesn't go anywhere.

All that is happening is that your life doesn't have enough significant landmarks and therefore it is difficult to gauge the passage of time.

A similar thing happens with your nose. Your nose gets de-sensitised to rancid smells so it can smell other rancid smells.

It's like travelling on a featureless surface with no landmarks. Because you have no references you're not even sure you are moving.

The way to counter act this?

Regularly try new things. I don't mean a different beer or a different route to work. Things you would never normally do. Things which are significantly out of your comfort zone.

This builds land marks which you can use to measure the passage of time. It can be anything as long as it is outside your comfort zone. The farther out of your comfort zone and the bigger the challenge it presents to you the better the landmark.

YMMV of course as I've done several things to do before you die lists already.

Do you just leave a trail of depression-induced suicides behind you everywhere you go?

I just like to try new things. This is because I hold the mentality that life is very very short. If you live another 50 years that's only 18262 days. All in all not a whole load of time. So I try new things to make the most of it. I will one day turn to dust and I sure as hell won't be thinking as part of my departing thoughts if only I did this or that. I do those things now because you can't do them when you're dead!

It's actually part of my culture. The dead don't remain buried for eternity. We exhume their corpses wash the bones and put them into jars and into ghost houses. So at the bottom of your garden might be some daffodils. I have the bones of my ancestors. Reminders of death come regularly so we as a people don't become complacent and waste the limited time we have.

Of course it is not my decision as to how you live your life. If you are satisfied with it then who am I to argue as to if it is right or wrong?

Does your culture include humour? Neutral

For gawd's sake Itchy, lighten up sometimes, will ya?!

I agree with Itchy.

I won't go into detail but I do feel my life has been a fair bit more varied than the vast majority of mates I grew up around. Not that I'm any more wealthy than anyone else, in fact I've never earned more than about 17k at best, and never had handouts from my parents. I just made certain choices to do certain things because they seemed better than staying put. When people say 'time flies and nothing has changed' I look back on the last 5 years and it's absolutely chock full of 'stuff', it's been great.

Hey, I don't exactly disagree. It's just sometimes he's more mind-numbing than a party political broadcast. Having a bit of a laugh and not taking everything too seriously is another way to help make life enjoyable.

I genuinely believe it's possible to travel through time by means of meditation techniques. I'm too lazy to work at it though.

The older you get the faster it goes Crying or Very sad

When you were a kid you wanted to be grown up. When you are old you want to be young............

So many things I wished I'd done.

I'm depressed now. Thumbs Down

Tell us all the things you most wish you'd done. That can be your legacy -spreading seeds of wisdom Very Happy

Or tell us all the things you wish you'd done, then read it back and ask yourself why you can't do at least some of those things now? Never too late!
