After buying this purple gunk last year, squirted it on a few bits but found it to be really thick - recently found out you need to heat it up before you use it

after your have applied it all over you bike, can you still use the bike or will it get absolutely cacked in crap sticking to the ACF?

Riding an early 90's Suzuki is a risk anyways..I think the poor thing is held together with paint an broken dreams (rust)

I'd read the instructions on the side of the can if I were you.

Yes, but it won't damage the bike. Clean it off in spring.

Nothing quite like riding down the road , looking like you're on fire, because the ACF is burning off the exhaust.
See smoke, smoke, everywhere... Smile

Yes you can use the bike but not instantly. I'd advise applying it on a day where you have the next day off or at least 24 hours before you need to use it again. That's just advice I've gathered from youtube videos and alike as to allow the ACF-50 to work its way around the bike into every nook and cranny. As above white smoke will happen and is normal, large amounts, it's fine.. probably best to start it and let it run and smoke out before going out on the roads though, and it smells so be prepared for that.

+1 On Borg's reply to the latter of this question. The point of ACF-50 is to create a protective coating so that it takes the brunt and damage rather than your bike, sure it all look dirty and disgusting up until around march but you'll thank yourself around that time when you remove it and it's fairly clean rather than more rust or deprecation.

I have the aerosol form so choose to apply it to the bike via a rag, given my choice again I'd invest in the big bottle and smaller spray bottle looks like it enables a far better application process and easier to control.

Do be aware that one coating on the exhaust pipes isn't enough IMO as it will burn off in time, just keep an eye out and make your own judgement on that, we're not talking daily applications but we're not talking one coat lasts all winter.

Just give it a good clean before caking your bike in ACF-50 and you'll be bloody glad you did once you see how instantly shiny it all gets when you rub it in and wipe the excess off.

Spray on a cloth and wipe it on the bits you want to protect.
You can also spray into the lid and use a soft paint brush and brush the hard to reach places.

I apply it to bare metal that rusts or oxidises. Footpeg springs and engine bolts. Very carefully>>> Junction of brake lines and banjos. Wheel nuts and caliper bolts. Fork pinch bolts...etc.

The painted steel swingarm gets treated as that is pitted.
Pointless doing the plastics.
Electrical connectors have dielectric grease in/on them.

My big bottle of ACF50 will outlive me.

I never pay attention to shelf life.

You can toast bread that has those blue dots on it. They turn brown. Wink
