Looks like there could be others based on the form, a bit like all the MT-07/09 variants from Yamaha

I'll take the top one with the tyres from the bottom one, please.

Now show us them with a Euro-4 exhaust and everything to make them UK road legal.

There's very little on the cafe racer version that needs doing, if anything at all. You can't tell if its exhaust is euro 4 compliant or not from the picture. What do you think is missing? What needs to be fixed?

... and really, what's to stop me being non-euro4 compliant 5 minutes after taking it off the dealer's forecourt.

Either way these are concepts, they don't need to be compliant with anything, the whole point is to show what could be done without the restrictions.

More stupid London styled crap by the looks of it!

First thing I would do as boss of boss's of all the tyre companies, would be to ban knobbly front tyres in anything other than 21" sizes. There is no practical or useful reason to have 17/18" knobbly front tyres ever!

Secondly the first Honda is ridiculous, in that its got stupid low slung under the engine pipes, but then they put a tin plate over them to protect them? Rolling Eyes

If I was designing that bike the pipes would all curve upwards over the engine and the 4-1 collector would be under the tank. Then I'd put a thick bash plate under the bike, bolted to a sturdy frame rail, with a gap between this and the lowest part of the sump. The bash plate is designed to support the whole weight of the bike on rocks or logs, and if it can't it doesn't need to be there IMO!

What if you were designing a bike to look like a scrambler, not be actually be used as one?

We all know that the majority of 'adventure' bikes don't go off road, the majority of 'scramblers' don't either - deal with it, it's just styling.

None of what you complain about matters one jot for a road bike, that's all these are. Accept it. Breathe deeply, and move on. None of your complaining will change anything, other than perhaps giving you an ulcer.

Knobblies are more than a styling issue though. Your X came with Metzeler Roadtecs, right?

Can accept your points Mr cat, and I'm not that worked up so don't worry.

But knobblies are the worst thing on the road, and the above bike could corner and brake far harder on good dry tarmac with sports bike tyres instead. I can't see how or why people think it's ok to use tyres to style a bike, that's my point.

Would you put those tyres on a fairingless fireblade to give it a street scrambler look? Me neither!

I've got an off road style bike, but have got 100% road tyres on it, as they make it about 98x better to ride, and yet crap to look at, because it doesn't have the authentic street scrambler look!

Which is more important?

Indeed, and they are great on the road and utterly shite at getting the bike up the garden after we've had a little bit of rain. The bike is used on the road, I don't claim it has off road credentials. However, some X's were sold with Trailmax tyres on them - although Honda had to swap them out because they wore out in <2k miles in many instances.

I think it depends on who you ask. Normal riders wouldn't want them if they were riding on the road all the time, but some people will still happily ride a bike with tyres like that on because "looks cool" is all they care about. I can't get worked up about that, because I don't really care what they do.

love the current CB650 in the red white blue paint job, all they need to do is let it loose with 115+ hp instead of the 85 wheezing donkeys it has

The only benefit i've found with fitting TKC80s to my bike are the increased puncture resistance and they can hop a kerb well. Both useful attributes for London commuting. Also they are quite good for the occasional time I take it off-road.

Downsides are they are crap for braking in the wet, make a din above 60 and handle terribly.

Then again the bike they're fitted to is a KLE500 so it's already crap for braking, makes a din above 60 and handles terribly.

Scramblers are the two wheeled equivalent of the 4x4 they'll get more use on the school run than they ever will off road.
Get yourself a scrambler and you'll look as cool as Beckham Thumbs Up

I have three questions.
-is that a smartphone used as the dashboard? Because I wouldn't imagine that damage to the phone would be cover by insurance
-is that brake light meant to look like an underseat exhaust?
-why would you put the plate there? It's not a Harley.

Just looks like an ultra thin, fake dash to me - it's a concept bike, stuff doesn't actually have to work in real life. There's no reason it couldn't be like a smart phone sized thing though. Why wouldn't it be covered by insurance?

That's what I thought too...

Because it doesn't have a rear hugger and that, much like the ones on BMW's and Ducati's, stops all the shit and spray going up your back. You'll also find that in some countries there is a requirement for the rear plate to be further back than the rear wheel.
