 Posted: 14:33 - 26 Nov 2015 Post subject: Biking related (?) eye problems!!! |
 |
|
Whilst hearing issue related posts seem to crop up regularly on here, we don't seem to bring this subject up. I know it's not something I've considered beyond anything more than foreign object damage...until this week, FFS
Hands up all those of you that suffer from (or have even heard of) Pinguecula?
For some while now I've suffered irritation when wearing contacts for more than a fortnightly stint and thought it was just a problem with dry eye complicated with blistering the sclera when extracting a stuck lens but no, turns out I've got acne on the white of my right eyeball, FFS!
I'm always a little twitchy when it comes to eye issues thanks to suffering from Ankylosing related Iritis (google that one at your peril, the pics are not pretty, the 90's were not my most fun decade!!!) and thought I'd finally gotten another bout nearly a decade after the last attack.
The Wiki link only mentions the fact that it's more common in us +40 types and that it's as a result of UV exposure but a little digging around the net and you'll find it's found in those who spend a lot of time outdoors in dusty and windy environments.
As a large biking community it'd be interesting to see if it's a common issue amongst us, especially the old farts.
As an aside, herbal remedies containing Belladonna seem to be doing a cracking job at reducing the inflammation, irritation and redness caused by a contact lens rubbing against these blasted zits, might even be able to ditch the specs again in a few days time... |

I wonder if it's less prominent in the UK because it's always raining, so our visors are down shielding us from the wind ____________________ 2004 R1 & 2018 XSR900 |

My mate who is a truck driver got Bells Palsy from always having his window cracked open. The continuous draught into
the corner of his eye is apparently what caused it. Laughing at his waft face and silly voice until the condition sorted itself out
was one of my funniest times as a youth. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

Spent 7 years as a tree surgeon forever getting sawdust particles in my eyes and rubbing them with dirty gloves on while leaving monthly contacts in for the entire 30 days without taking them out even at night.
Older and wiser now since my optician said I'd get ulcers on my eyeballs ____________________ Yamaha FZ6 S2 |

As a contact eye lenses user I feel the pain/discomfort with you. Eyelash under the lense scratching the eye, or just some fiber from the towel I dried my hands with and so on.
Well, I can just take the lenses off, through. The worst stuff ever happened to my eyes was chilli. Even after I cleaned my hands, the stuff was still on my skin, so when I tried to remove my contact eye lenses, a couple of hours later, I nearly shat myself from the pain. At first it was alright, then it kicked in and I immediately had to put my face under running water, washing my eyes like it was the G spot and I wanted to make some lady happy.
Never touched/sliced open chilli ever again, although I am a grower. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ
