SV650 gear shift lever, bend or replace?

So I dropped my bike a few weeks ago. Turns out if you take it off the paddock stand with the side stand up the thing just falls over. Who knew.

Anyway, crash bungs saved the tank and frame, mirror and clutch lever broken. Replaced those. Come to ride it today and as I pull away I cant get second. I stop, look down and see the gear lever was also bent, such that it was fouling the linkage, which stopped me shifting up. Limped back home in 1st for a proper look, and the linkage came off the ball head at the lever side.

Is it worth taking the lever off and see I can bend it back to a functional shape? Or is it now weakened and will fail unexpectedly causing untold kitten death?

Also how do you get the circular hole bit (technical term) at the end of the gear shift linkage shaft back on the ball head? Is there a special tool or just a case of sufficient pressure?

Going by the diagram it sounds as though the rose joint has popped out and if you can press it back into place,there is no guarantee that it will not come adrift again at some point in the future.

You should be able to straighten the levers if they are steel.But if they are aluminium then it would be more difficult,possibly ending up snapping one end off if too much force is used
