Last went about 5 years ago, went yesterday and was pleasantly surprised at the manufaturer's efforts for their stands.
Best bits:
Hotties on the Ducati stand
Stunt show on the Kawasaki stand
No MotoGP bike on the Honda stand (but a touring car and a Civic type R - WTF?)
Plenty of traders, lots of variety
I held the grip on Rossi's bikes. And don't you know he's known as the people's champion now - can see him getting wrapped around a Merc in a Paris underpass soon then)
Viper engined noise coming from Carole Nash stand every hour

However, the traders were pretty mean. Twice I was told the same yarn 'prices actually go up towards the end of the week because there's less stock' - yeah mate, you see if you can feed your kids on £0 then, cos that's how much I'm giving you! And one hilarious twat who told me he didn't have a helmet in my size, but had one two sizes up for the same price. As if I'd grow into it or something.

All in all, (ignoring the hilarious prices to get in or park a car), I enjoyed it.

I went on Monday. I would seem the market traders of a few years ago have been given the boot. Although it was smaller than a few years back, I would say what was there was of higher quality. Thumbs Up

I'm going Saturday, looking forward to it. But then again I like shopping Thumbs Up
On my potential shopping list are...

Front paddock stand.
Pair of Handroid short cuff summer gloves.
Pair of Sidi ST boots. (Non perforated)
Shark Skwal lid cos I'm a sucker for things that light up. Laughing

I have all of the above saved in my watch list at very good prices from ebay sellers.
If the guys at the show can't beat them even by a bit, then I'll just buy it all online Saturday evening
when I return home.. I'm off to try on some Sidis this afternoon, I may also opt for Vortice or Vertigo
if I prefer the fit/feel, but it's handy to know my sizes in each without faffing about trying them on at the show.

Similar to Grr666, I went on opening day with a watch list of couple items I wanted. The plan was to get the vendors to beat the prices or at the very least match it and throw in some useless tat as a sweetener. No such luck I'm afraid.

Here's what I wanted and how much I'm paying versus the bike show...

Rukka Viriam Gloves - Paid FCMOTO £90 posted, best bike show price £125.
HJC RPHA 10+ Solid Black - Paid LidsDirect £170 posted, best bike show price £195. Worth noting the lidsdirect stand didn't have any HJCs at all.

Alpha Motorcycles have all white Vortices for £189.99 and black ones for £229.99

Thumbs Up

I did that too, I wanted some gloves and a new lid.
Arai Rebel, best price I saw was £260 last week, although price on web is now £320. Best price I saw in show was £250, but in a crap colour. Colour I liked was £280 (same place I saw online) at the show. I paid £270.
RST Tractec gloves, best price in show £50. Best price I found online was £70. Paid £45 and a smile.

What is a good or must see show though these days? Do they still exist?

I'm not a jot surprised by the NEC comments to be honest, but I haven't been since 2008 anyway.

I was supposed to go to the international dirt bike show, but had man Flu so that was off.

Back in the day, the BMF and the CMM shows were the best ones to go to by far. That said the best bikes and specials I've ever seen or ever will see have always been in the car parks at such events, or on Sunny summer evening bike/pub meets.

Just bought these... Laughing
The same were £275 in Fowlers, £249 most other places online so happy with a bit more off and free
delivery so all good. I think it's quite a new boot in their range, I liked the big Motocross style buckles on either side.
Couldn't help but feel like the little nylon cords on the some of the other
Sidis were a bit fragile looking, and a bit thin.

Have had my Vertigo Corsas for 6 years, two crashes later, lots of walking around, and loads of road and track miles, they're still going strong. I'd have no concerns about the strength of those cables. The thin soles are a concern (but they're replaceable on the Vortice anyway). Thumbs Up

My mates working the Norton stand on Sunday, so I'm going to go and bother him and try and get him in trouble with the boss. Laughing

I quite fancy some new MX boots, but unlikely to find any for a reasonable price really at what is mostly sports bike stuff. Maybe some new goggles. I'll just see what's about. Although I'm going on my own for the first time this year, I'm not sure it will be worth the tiny amount of time I will spend there.

I last went 3 years ago and vowed never to return.

I usually go to the London Dockland/Excel show though even that has not improved much over the last few years. But at least it is free parking, close to home and a good crowd of us go together on the Friday

I don't mind paying to get into the show..bit it's the £12 to park that is hard to accept - complete piss take imho. They could quite easily charge a nominal £5, that's enough to pay to park outside what is just a huge shop.

The £12 to park and the extra charge to get into the show(within the show) ls just taking the piss to be honest. Whilst enough mugs like me pay it then they will Continue to shaft everyone.

I won't be going again for a number of years...if ever. You can see as much just visiting the relevant dealers showrooms...for FREE.

With the talk of all that revenue of parking and tickets - you'd think the toilets would be a little less rank than what they were.

I filled out the computer thingy last year and Carol (Foaming at the gash) Nash personally gave me a £50 note,
free RAC cover and a tits out blow job. This year I'm filling it out twice.

I make a point of never going to bike shows/meets/stalls that charge an entry fee. Im not paying to see some sellers tat.

Internet tends to be cheaper anyway.

You're never going to get big bargains at the NEC bike show, the NEC charge the traders so much money just to be there, the rental for the floor space alone for a normal decent sized pitch is in excess of £20,000 for the 'week'.
