This morning the [2012] Hornet turned over and fired up as usual - but it only ran for around 1~2 seconds before cutting out (straight cut as if the ignition had been turned off) - I tried to start it again but I just got the starter spinning and no hint of it firing up.

When turning the ignition on, I can hear the fuel pump whirring as usual. The HISS light goes out, I've not knocked the cut-off switch, it's in neutral with the side-stand up and I've tried both keys - anything else obvious to check?

I've put the battery on to charge overnight (I don't suspect this is the actual issue, but a few attempts to start it have probably drained it somewhat)

I bought the bike two months ago from a Honda dealership - it came with three months/three thousand mile warranty - typically I've done 3010 miles, so if it's something expensive then I'll be relying on their goodwill for any assistance with it.

Fuse.

Sounds like it isn't making a spark. Checking fuses is easier than checking for a spark.

Protip for checking for a spark on a bike where removing a plug is tricky. Pop off the HT lead and plug in an old spark plug from your tool box, then see if that is sparking. No need to disturb the plugs screwed into the head.

Is the kill switch on the right handle bar in the ON position? I used to own a CB-1 that when the switch was OFF, it would spin the starter like it normally would but there was no ignition. Wink
