I remember hearing rumours a while back. About the police bringing into action a policy of if you are pulled over and have no tax etc that they can straight away confiscate your vehicle and have it crushed.
Then I was having a conversation the other day and this came up again in the conversation. Just wondered if anyone knew if this 'rumour' is actually true and in action or not.

When I got pulled for KDing in that car park, the police gave me a form that said:

Police Paperwork wrote:
POLICE REFORM ACT 2002

POLICE (RETENTION AND DISPOSAL OF MOTOR VEHICLES) REGULATIONS 2002

NOTICE OF SEIZURE OF A VEHICLE CAUSING ALARM/DISTRESS

Name: blablabla
Address: bla bla bla
Motor Vehicle: Honda NSR125 W*** E**

You have been driving in a

Careless
Inconsiderate Manner
Contrary to section 3 of the road traffic act 1988

In a manner which is causing/is likely to cause alarm distress or annoyance to members of the public.

I must warn you that if you or any person continues to drive this vehicle now in the same manner it can be seized. Also, if you are found driving this or any other vehicle in a similar manner within the next 12 months that vehicle may be siezed. Any vehicle seized will be under section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002.

Looks like they're serious Sad .

One of the officers present told me it would be a shame to have my bike scrapped, as it "is a nice bike and it's obviously roadworthy, not like the dirt bikes we see a lot of, you should just use it for going from A to B"

Her colleague told me "just do it where you won't get caught, there's plenty of places around here"

Thumbs Up Smile Way to go mr Police Officer Smile

I've known quite a few people who have had there cars confiscated and crushed due to non payment of Road Fund Licence.

They police are also thinking of bringing it in for those who are driving/riding without insurance.

I wasn't asking because I can't be arsed to pay my road tax. Laughing I don't even currently own a bike so it doesn't affect me. I was just interested because the person who said it too me was very sure about the fact, and sorry if I didnt really make it clear but I did mean if the vehicle had anything missing not just tax. ie. Taxed but ran out of MOT. I just wanted to correct the smart arse who said it to me. Smile
