Finally finished lowering my wife's CBF500. Last remaining thing is sorting out the side stand which is now too long, leaving the bike balanced precariously upright. One option is to cut'n'weld current stand. Beyond my skills and a local bike shop has quoted me £60 and won't guarantee it if the stand fails and bike topples (typical get out clause).

So I was wondering if there are other side stands off other bikes I could swap which may fit the bill. Possibly a cheaper/easier option?

I've read on forums the CBR400 stand is compatible, but longer. Was eyeing up the CBF250 2004-2006 stand, but it's nigh impossible to get measurements on these things. Fitment looks very similar on parts diagrams. CBF600 stand has same model number as CBF500. CBF125 looks very different fitting wise.

An adjustable stand is out, these are just crazy expensive and seemingly won't work with kick stand cut out switch (an MOT failure, I believe?)

Anyone swapped on other side stands? What worked, what didn't, what was shorter, what was longer?

Anyone with some other Honda's possibly give me some measurements to compare (centre of mounting bolt to underside of foot)?

Cut and weld.

If you're not comfortable, give a welder £20 to cut and weld.

Yep, understood. But ebay is littered with CBF250 and CBR250 side stands for under £20 that from first appearances might just swap over. So, potentially an easier and simpler approach. I'd just like to get some clarification before buying a random stand that won't quite fit and then have to flog it on.

Just go to your local honda dealers and ask for a short stand.

They won't keep you long.

Send it me with required dimensions and I'll cut, sleeve and weld it for 20 quid + p&p.

To within 4 thou. Upside down. Underwater.

Can't say fairer than that.

If you involve a fish finger then that is very reasonable.

Fish finger can be sourced on request.

Tranny would involve extra cost.

Cool, thanks for the offer.
I've actually already gone and and taken a punt on a CBR250R sidestand. But if that doesn't work out, I'll definitely take you up on the offer.

Cheers again!

I'd take the current stand to a bike breakers and ask to go through the stand they have.

No probs.Just let me know if you want it done and we can discuss where needs measuring and the like.

Chris's breakers idea isn't bad either btw, unless like me the closest bike breaker is 150,000,000 miles away and a grumpy bastard Wink

Arse. CBR250R stand doesn't look like it'll fit and won't be any shorter after all. Sad PDG: Will be in touch and take you up on the offer.
