A couple of trees, not too bad.
The random noises have started in earnest though. Whistling, singing, "ah, come on, it's Chriiiiistmaaaas."
I have my earplugs in and am playing brown noise through my headphones.
Three more days. Hang in there. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Anything christmas related has to be treated with maximum distrust....
Workplaces should be just that.
So unless you work in Santa's grotto. NONE is none than enough ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

We have a pretty swanky tree in our Broker Lounge, but then the place does look more like a 5* hotel lobby than an office.
Beyond the security doors into the plebs area, nothing! I might waste an afternoon making paper chains, I'm doing sod all else! ____________________ Like a Yorkie - I'm not for the girls |

It's not overly exciting.
I've almost forgotten the meaning of the word "work", but I did a random day maiding last week.
There is a tree with baubles in the girls' waiting-room.
But that's about it.
I'm tempted to buy a box of mince pies and a bottle of sherry for when I am back there on Wednesday (which will make them safe from me scoffing them, as I am fond of neither sherry nor mince pies)
I noticed a "plus-sized" red PVC Mrs Santa outfit hanging in one room.
Might be my size
Definitely won't fit the girl who's working, who is about the size of a piece of wet spaghetti.
It might be amusing to greet her customers in it though
I'd be worried about ripping it, mind you ...
... or being propositioned by overenthusiastic punters led on by my sherry ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

^^^^ this.
Christmas doesn't just happen Boys and Girls, you always have to wish for it and help to make it happen.
You don't need to get dressed up to be 'Christmassy but at least put the Bah Humbugs away for a wee bit.
I hope it's different when the drink kicks in.
Just even celebrate the Mid-Winter feast/festival for **** sake. ____________________ Disclaimer: The comments above may be predicted text and not necessarily the opinion of MCN. |

That's what I have decided to do.
We're having a feast of noodles and fresh salmon with ginger for Yule, yay.
Just waiting for the big guy to get home *slurp*
I realised about five years ago that if you do the "I hate it" thing, then you will hate it. But if you "get in the spirit" without allowing the hysteria to overtake you, it can be quite surprisingly pleasant and restful. Even when you're making stuff from scratch (which I almost always do).
Hysteria is only for those trying to out-do others, to out-brag how stressed they were buying too many presents for people who didn't give a shit if they got them or not.
And as for the "We must have [insert whatever obligatory foodstuff] - sod that. We just have what I find when I mosey round the shops in the few days beforehand - and as it happens I found a leg of lamb much cheaper than it's been for years (must be mutton or donkey) and a pre-herbed sirloin roast, so we will have that., too (with roast onions, of which I seem to have a surfeit at the moment). At some point. When I get round to it - or when he grumbles about being hungry.
I bought some of that fancy boozy vanilla cream for puddings, too. But I (accidentally) used it in my coffee all weekend - so I might go and get some more. Or I shall make custard instead. Or a different pudding. No stress.
Although I really ought to get some bacon in the house, so that we can have Bucks Fizz and bacon sarnies* in bed on Christmas Day
*if I get round to making the poolish for the sourdough bread, that is, needs to be done really quite sooner than later, pull your finger out hellkat, else it will be bacon scones instead, LMAO ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

On a string?
I'd celebrate yule but I'm on a starvation diet until Thursday.
Might go with goose on Xebuseve, but it'll be the traditional pizza on Xebusmass day. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Half Man Half Biscuit has it right
It is pretty cliched to hate Christmas.
I got annoyed with my friend for saying she hated the Kardashians... why hate people you've never met? Nothing them.
Much like Christmas. As Jen says, just ignore the bits of it you dislike, avoid putting your in debt for the sake of it, buy one decent present person... and decent is judged by the thought, not the price.
And chill the fuck out with your friends or family.
As for my work... long story, but I feel pretty damn Christmassy for once.
edit: I did, and then I went back to work. Humbug. 3 months to freedom. ____________________ Top cat
