Triumph drive their marketing on the Britishness of the Bonneville, how very fraudulent.

They don't say 'made in Britain' on them anywhere.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

That is their way now. The flagship bikes are made in UK, others in Thailand.

If their quality control is OK, fine, otherwise they will end up like Victory.

This is an interesting piece..............

I believe the old one was made in Thailand too.

Harley source many parts from from China, and stuartt reckons that Polaris / Victory bikes are knockdown kits made in China with the wheels bolted back on (proudly!) in Minnesota. The MT-07 is ostensibly made in Japan but I'd expect it's also mostly Chinese / Malaysian / Thai parts.

I really wouldn't get too worked up over where a bike's bits come from. Anywhere in the world can make a decent bike if they get lucky with the parts and the workforce on a given day.

Well at least Yamaha are passing the savings onto the customer, Honda are making cheap nasty bikes and still want top dollar for them.

Yamaha did catch the rest napping when they priced the MTs, especially for "Japanese" bikes. It does beg the question of whether they're selling them at minimal/no profit in order to piss on everyone's chips, or whether we'd been getting gouged for years by an effective price fixing cartel.

Dunno, it's strange seeing as the original MT's (MT-01 and 03) were priced at a premium, which's probably why they didn't sell that well Smile I think the quality difference between the '03 and the 07/09 is clear, but so is the price difference when if like my local dealer, you're still trying to sell an MT-03 for 7k Very Happy

In which direction? There seem to be a few Friday-bike MT-03s around with recurring problems.

Modern classic, innit, much sought after bike, appreciating in value. Rolling Eyes

Some do have electrical gremlins, but they're made in Italy Smile The MT-03 feels more 'solid' to me, I think they've compromised on the quality of the '09 a bit, and the '07 even further.

They might be one day Smile, but at 7k that's not a great 'investment'. I believe the ones that did sell sold for a lot less (6 and even 5 thousand something...).
