I have received two Xmas cards from complete strangers in my new street, one welcoming me to the neighbourhood ("sorry we don't know your names" - oh, how many replies to that could I come up with?! ).

HELP! I'm a southerner, I don't understand people being welcoming! Am I supposed to do something in return? Do I have to get involved in Xmas stuff now?
