Just been reading another thread featuring 'nearly new' tyres that look a bit perished,

Back in October I thought my tyres had gotten too squared off to continue using and ordered some Michelin PR3's to replace the ones that had done a year,

I then changed my riding style slightly and my tyres wore back in so being the tight yorkshire git I am, kept plodding on with them leaving the new tyres on top of the stack of winter tyres for the car under a tarp (keep out of the light) in the back of the house (what used to be the out-house) so they've been kept around house temperature kind of out of the light.

The car tyres appear to have been fine kept here, just wondering if keeping them until spring or chuck them on sooner rather than later

The one that turned out to be over a decade old when it was sold and fitted as "new". Wink

70% of my commute is motorway, squared off may happen before worn out - my hope is to wear them out before replacing to gets my moneys worth. I'm expecting this to be in the spring, they've done over 10,000 miles so far

So it's no issue storing them for a few months where I have been doing?

10000 miles....that's pretty awesome. What tyres are they?

And from what i have learned about storing tyres, as long as they are out of direct sunlight and as you have been sounds pretty decent. They won't degrade. I store a lot of tyres for racing in the loft in my garage for the winter periods and in between race meets, and they have always been fine.

Same as above all my super corsas for next season are kept indoors, fingernail test is always useful if your not sure, but then again most bikes are left in a cold garage all winter with there tyres on, should be fine.

Michelin PR3s I think, they might be 2s
I tend to just use the bike to plod to work and back and don't really push it that much.

Old Thread Alert!

The last post was made 10 years, 45 days ago. Instead of replying here, would creating a new thread be more useful?
