Matthew McConaughey:

1.) Dazed and confused - 1970s nostalgia flick but awesome nonetheless.

2.) Lone star - he's not in this much but he makes the film.

3.) Killer Joe - based on a play where he's a policeman moonlighting as a killer for hire. Surprisingly good and underrated movie.

4.) Contact - Again he's not in it much, but he makes the movie what it is.

Have you watched the first season of True Detective? He was so, so good in that.

The Fugitive
Natural Born Killers
No Country For Old Men
Rules of Engagement.

Quite right. That Crystal Skull thing should be stricken from the records.

There's always the Alien(s)(3)(Resurrection) collection. But whatever you do, don't keep going and watch Prometheus. Not only lacking in Sigourney but also lacking in any meaningful storyline, connection to the Alien universe, or redeeming features at all.

I might also throw Mark Wahlberg in there:

Three Kings
The Departed
Shooter
Lone Survivor

As far as I could tell, that was just a long advert for GMC, beats audio, KFC, Motorola and Apple.

The product placement was ridiculous, really detracted from what would have been a half decent film.

4 real good ones there (IMO).
I'd also put Donnie Brasco on a Johnny Depp list... Although the book is better.

There are more Pacino's films I'd add, but as OP said 4 films, I had to pick only those 4. He was great in nearly every single film he appeared in. Even the latest stuff, such as Stand Up Guys (2012) was alright, a that was a 7/10 film, which is low score for a Pacino's film.

Christopher Walken is also one of my favourite actors, but he's more of a side character than the lead, if you know what I mean.

If I had to pick some European actors, than most of them do comedy films only.
